Default Installing a World file to CAW
Hello, I’m still getting used to using this website so please bear with me if I haven’t posted this in the right place.

I’ve tried to make a custom world before, but I found all the terrain stuff quite difficult, so I decided to download an empty world so I could just focus on making the buildings, and not too much terrain editing. Unfortunately, I don’t exactly know how to get the world I have downloaded into CAW. I’ve googled it, but I can’t seem to find an answer, and I’m pretty sure I can do it without having to use that complicated method for editing already installed worlds.

I get the feeling this is very simple and I’m just overthinking it, but I guess you can never be too sure. Thank you.
And I'd hate to fade alone

If it's a world that has been packaged for sharing then you need to use this method (which I think you were referring to):

Unless the creator will share the CAW files with you.

Hi, thanks for responding. As far as I’m concerned, I downloaded the CAW files. It’s a folder with a WORLD File, a SETTINGS File, and another folder with lots of layers files and lot files. I’m pretty sure these are all CAW things, although I might be wrong. Thanks again for your help.

From what you are saying you have the CAW files and just need to place in your user data. Add there and test. You should not need the edit world method if you have all the CAW files needed already. Just add what you have to your world folder in your docs where all the other worlds you now have in CAW are. It should then show up when you open CAW.

Yes, as daisylee says, put the files in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Create A World Tool\UserToolData\Worlds.

Yes, it is! Sorry for not saying earlier, it’s working fine and I’ve started editing it. Thanks again for your help.
