Default Am I legally allowed to make machinimas outside of the game?
I don't know how to phrase this inquiry because it has many parts.
Basically, am I legally allowed to:
1) Import Sims 3 models into Blender (using CmarNYC's TS3 SimRipper )...
2) Make machinimas with those (modified) models in Blender rather than the game...
3) And upload them onto YouTube or other video hosting site?
Or is there any policy against this? Or will I get a cease and desist from EA, etc...
Some things to add:
-It will not be family friendly
-I am not monetizing these videos
The non-family friendly part is the more concerning one because I intend to make a series that will have very dark topics, and I don't mean the toned-down cartoonish "dark" the game shows you. I mean real dark topics like in the movies. So I was wondering if anyone knew if I'd be free to do these machinimas (I guess they wouldn't be called machinimas anymore). Also, if it ends up being possible, I can show a preview or two of some tests if anyone is interested but I'll have to do it in a feedback section of the forum or similar.

I can't think of why it would be a legal problem, but I don't see how it could be easier to do, or easier to do well.

Thank you for the response. To be honest I'm just now starting to get serious about rendering, animating in Blender, etc. The main reason I chose to do it like this is because of some unfixable glitches on my game's end, and not gonna lie, the topics are so dark I feel like the game's lighting would just do a lot better with something better structured than the game's engine. If you want, I can show a few samples on a feedback thread.
