Default Finally ran into a glitch I haven't been able to fix
TSIA. I finally ran into a problem that I don't know how to fix. In a brand-new Steam installation of Sims 2 Legacy, which has been running fine, much to my surprise and joy.

Background: resurrecting a neighborhood that hasn't been played in 15 years. It experienced a disk crash and loss of data at that time, affecting sundry objects, hair, skintones, etc. All of which I have been able to fix/work around so far. Until this one.

One of my Sims (see attached pic) was apparently wearing a lot of custom jewelry which is now lost. And in some outfit modes, she has the space where the jewelry should be, but of course no textures. This applies to Everyday, Exercise, Formal, and Outerwear (and probably would to Maternity, I didn't check), but not to Sleep, Swim, or Naked, where she is apparently stripped of all jewelry. Surprised Exercise Mode keeps the jewelry.

So, I tried changing the skintone -- no joy, I really didn't expect that to work -- bought her some new outfits in hopes that the jewelry wouldn't carry over -- no joy, the modes still want the trinkets -- and as a last resort deleted her and restarted the family -- no joy, she still wants her rocks. That was a disappointment, "Delete" has always been my go-to nuclear option.

She's clearly unplayable in the present condition. Can This Sim Be Saved? Any suggestions are welcome.

Have you tried deleting the cache files (especially if you kept those from the original files?)

I don't think changing clothes works., but have you tried taking the sim to a mirror (Change appearance)?

Both of those usually work on stuck leftover accessories (missing meshes/textures).

As a matter of fact, I just did that, having remembered that "change appearance" had a jewelry command.

It worked, eliminating all the jewelry artefacts. Now she has no jewelry, and apparently neither does my game, since the Jewelry option in the mirror is greyed out. This is an unegged beer I will gladly accept, the important thing is that she's fixed.

It sounds like you probably uninstalled the jewelry by accident.

Well, I had a disk crash back when. I lost a lot of custom content that hadn't yet been backed up.
