Default How to make sims not have romantic interactions in public?
Hi everyone!

I was wondering if there is a way to make a sim not have autonomous romantic interactions in public, especially in community lots.
My idea is that the priest of my custom neighborhood wouldn't want to be caught having romantic interactions in public. I can stop him when I'm controlling him, but I can't do that when I'm not controlling him.
Do you know of any mods that could at least minimize the autonomous romantic interactions?

Thank you in advance!

You could set him to have no gender preference. https://modthesims.info/d/82198/gen...d-10-16-05.html

I read somewhere that very shy sims won't do autonomous social actions in public.

He will have a gender preference as long the preference for one gender is higher than the preference for the other. So if, for instance, you set his Gender Preference in SimPE to minus 10 for males but to minus 9.8 for females, he still be "straight", in that he still prefers females to males (though he really doesn't think much of either!) I think that would produce someone who was almost frigid, but still had a very slight preference for females. It's probably worth experimenting with different values till you get the result you want.

I also find LizzLove's Gender Preference Adjuster useful for checking and adjusting gender preference in game. Two cautions about it:
1) It costs (if I remember rightly) 750 Simoleons, which is a problem for some Sims in my game. Solution: place it on an unowned community lot.
2) It uses a different scale to SimPE. It uses -1,000 to +1,000, whereas SimPE uses -100 to +100.

Really? Will an extremely shy sim also refuse autonomous romantic interactions in public?

This is very interesting. Will this make him reject romantic interactions too?

There is a 'proper' trait, but I don't know if it has been modded. Or if its even possible to mod it so a sim rejects all romance while out.
The unflirty trait will stop dirty jokes and cuddling under the stars, but this is everywhere not just in public.

TBH I still think setting his gender to 0 before you leave his home to play others is your best bet. You can reset when you play him.

Probably! Especially if you also make him very shy. It's probably also worth making him not too nice, as my Romance Sims think that nice Sims are easy to seduce -- because they like to please. A few years ago @Freefalldreams had a priest in her megahood called Father Lawrence. (Father/Friar Lawrence is a character in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, but Maxis didn't include him in vanilla Veronaville.) Freefalldreams wanted him to be asexual, so she dragged his Male and Female gender preferences right down as far as they would go (-100 in SimPE). As I recall, it made him totally asexual and aromantic.

Are you trying to simulate celibacy or do you just not want him to be caught behaving indecently by his parishioners?

I just don't want him to be caught. I want him to have a secret lover (which is a gypsy, so it's very scandalous) but I don't want them to behave like lovers in public.

Yeah, I thought so. Unfortunately that's harder than celibacy, as the asexual idea would work well for that.

Sims, however, have zero self preservation when it comes to flirting when they shouldn't. XD

But it should work to change the gender preference settings anytime he meets his gypsy lover, though, shouldn't it? Or does the relationship break when the gender preferences go down to 0? TRamp94, I am now totally invested in your story, and wish you a good solution to this!

I should try to set the gender preference to asexual when I'm not playing him, but I think that his relationship with the gypsy is high enough to break the gender preference.
I guess there's really no solution for this >.<

I think pulling the gender preference right down as far as it will go probably will stop him having romantic interactions. You could also pull the gypsy's down to zero, which will tend to make her/him reject any advances from him. When they're together somewhere safe, put their gender preference back to normal, if necessary making them both controllable to do that. (I use Dolphin's Control this Sim to make Sims temporarily controllable). Pescado's Romance Mod pays attention to gender preference so it may help. (It makes Sims unlikely to respond to an advance from another Sim, who doesn't match their gender preference.) There's also a "No Instant Love" mod, which may help. (I think it's by Pescado too.) (I don't have it because my numerous Romance Sims wouldn't like it!!)

If everything fails, and they do some romantic interaction autonomously, don't despair. When it comes to matters of romance and sex, I believe even some Real Life people occasionally do something that they really didn't intend to do!! :o

P.S. I was about to assume that the gypsy lover is a "she", but when I remember that about 70% of the Sims in my own game are gay, that would be a ridiculous assumption to make!!

Just an oddball suggestion but you can stop him from leaving the house when you are not controlling him.
Slip an ELECTRONIC PRISONER TAG into his inventory and he will not show up on community lots when you are not controlling him

Gender preference and relationships are competely unrelated. Setting sims to asexual (or any other gender preference) doesn't affect their relationship levels or flags with any other sim, they can happily still be in love with people you've set them to dislike in their gender preference. There's also no particular reason why they can't fall in love with people they have negative chemistry with, or who aren't a gender they're interested in, it'll just take longer, probably, and they might not accept romantic interactions from that person, depending on what mods you have installed. Similarly, if you set them to -500 attraction to some gender, they'll still have to do 500 points worth of romantic socials with that gender before they'll start to become attracted to them, even if they have love flags with someone of that gender already.

And this is how Sim Sample has managed to be so successful in his carnal pursuits, even though everyone hates him.

So what you're saying is that if I set him to be asexual (making him dislike both genders) it will stop him from engaging in autonomous romantic interactions with his lover, right?
Meaning that I should make the gypsy asexual too, so that there's even a lower chance of them flirting and kissing.

In a nutshell: I should make both the priest and his lover asexual when I'm not playing with them, and set their gender preference back to what it was before when I'm controlling them.

I have MidgeTheTree's Romantic Standards and some 3t2 traits installed, but I will try making both the priest and the gypsy asexual and see if it will stop them from flirting and kissing in public. They have 3 bolts together (When I created them I intentionally made them extremely attracted to each others for story purpose) so they just can't stay away from each other. I believed that if I made the priest extremely shy and gave him the shy and unflirty traits, he wouldn't engage in romantic interactions, but that wasn't the case.

I will try to make them asexual and update you guys!

Three bolters are known for obsessing over each other. Maybe you could give them some of each other's turn offs. XD

There is a nun in Arundel whom I did NOT give any sexual components to and she's happy without having ACR assigned sexuality, which means she's safe from making passes at men while on CL's.

You can also go into SimPE and adjust their attraction meter to zero for the purposes of making them asexual.
