Default Eyes default replacement
Hello!

I have a technical question. Why most eyes default replacements that I find on the Internet include IMG files to replace every gender and age the faceoverlays (that image with tongue, teeth, etc.). and also a replace for the "FaceEyeColor" texture (0xC2B560673F00D806)??? My point is that I made an experiment. I tested (several times) in game those CC default replacements by A) eliminating from the package the faceoverlays and leaving only the FaceEyeColor, and B) eliminating the FaceEyeColor but leaving all the faceoverlays... And the eyes default replacements work just fine in case A) (not in case B). So you don't really need those face overlays, do you? Am I missing something?

The face overlays include the sclera of the eye, the FaceEyeColor is only the iris. Any eye textures that affect both need to include all of them, which is why there are often variants for including other face overlay retextures or other styles of sclera

AAAAH I see! So let's say I really like the Iris of A-modder, but I like to use the faceoverlay of B-modder because I like the eyelashes and teeth. I could use both at the same time as they are not using the same resources (as long as I don't care about the sclera), right?

Indeed.

And if you do care for parts of the texture from two or more mods, it's relatively trivial to combine them in an image editor.
