Default I'll Never Have a Use For ---- / Well Here's How I Used ----!
There's lots of really good objects that just came as part of the game or its various expansions, but then there are things that make you go "...huh?" and wonder what possible use they could ever have, as you skip past them in the catalog over and over... until you one day FIND that perfect place for the weird random thing! I'm curious what things played this role in other people's games, so here's the rules:

First, you have to explain how YOU'VE used one of the preceding 'weird' objects mentioned earlier in the thread successfully in your game (screenshots are not required, but more than welcome)

Second, you have to give an example or two of an object you can't foresee using in your game for other people to respond with!

I'll do both to start, just so you can see- for the longest time I couldn't think of any scenario where I could possibly find a use for the "Retro Bodacious Loveseat" (the lip-shaped couch)... until I eventually was doing a garish over-the top 'love hotel' for my Cyberpunk lots, and the absurdity of that couch suddenly fit perfectly!

I still don't see any creation that would lead me to using the "Way Coolinary Countertops" (the groovy disco counter set) or the "The Big Ninja, by Big Yard Dudes Inc." (the... big ninja) though...

I use the groovy disco set a lot for, y'know, groovy disco households! I used it in several lots on Land Grant University, for example. I also love the lips couch. (What can I say, child of the 60s.) The big ninja goes on top of gaming-centric community lots, as advertising. I presume it's inflatable.

What I don't ever use, though I've tried, are certain architectural items that don't seem to place properly, such as the flat semicircles (the grand helier?) that look as though they should go above doors but somehow just don't, and the cornices. And those little vent grills that don't line up with the ductwork.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

I always use the Ninja and giant ape for community lots, as huge advertisers.
Pictured is the Nōtō Ōzaru Arcade (using the pink ape), with The Ninja Box (it's a karaoke club).

I use the coolinary counters on Uni dorm lots as the canteen counters usually, the style seems to suit somehow!

I could never think of a way to use the huge two storey metal columns on non-industrial lots, but recently I've been using them as decorative acccents on different styled lots. I also use the simgreek letters and neon lights a lot as shopfront decor.

I hardly ever use the keumungo wall deco thing, or the halloween lawn ornaments. How could they be made useful, I wonder?

I use the great decorative Aspyring Spire spike for a roof as a radio antenna or a giant lightning rod for when the small one looks not big enough on a tall building. I use the flat tropical stone sculpture with the angry face to scare away thieves by inserting a burglar alarm inside it with cheats.

I never use the Privacy Screens. I would always build a wall if I needed an obstruction because it is more effective and doesn't take up space. I never use the Backyard Pyramid giant decoration from the Island.

The Keumungo thing is a neutral brown that doesn't grab attention. But I associate it with a cheat for disabling jealousy and always see it as such. Holiday ornaments have no place with the fast time passage, when a holiday comes and goes in an hour.

Did you know that if you have the scarecrow thing on your lot, the penguin may talk to it like it talks to a snowman? I didn't until the Goths threw a Halloween party.

They won't even place with move objects?

Ooh, jealousy per lot looks really useful. Thanks!

So, you look kind of trapped there.

Well, Halloween is coming up, so dig out those ornaments!

I like the scarecrow. It stands or hangs around on most of my farms near the orchards

There are probably a ton of things I have never used (and probably never will, if I have not used them yet). Building mostly small businesses for my business owners now, the new shops tend to be on the small side and very straightforward (I have a number of sims looking for their 3rd/4th/5th business right now).

I did put that Ninja on a park I built for Takemizu village - perhaps it was a good idea, one of my sims actually learned to teleport in that park

You mean the deco privacy screens? I've only used the one that looks like it belongs in a hospital, for that reason. Anything goes when you have limited stuff for a themed building. I can see how the other screens could be of use in themed buildings, but personally I don't think I've had a use for them.

I've used the algae-like deco for the "innards" of a tipped-over flower pot.

When I've needed background deco for baby pictures, everything goes - small bushes and plants become huge forests/trees, the stepping-stone rug becomes large stones, small rocks become mountain tops, a small water plant becomes palm trees in the distance - gotta get creative.

Can't think of an item at the moment that I really can't see a use of. There are a lot of items I don't personally use, or use extremely rarely, but know other people are using. For instance, I don't use most of the Halloween items either (I think they're a bit too big and garish), but they're probably nice to have if you don't use CC and/or need something quick to decorate a Halloween/spooky-themed back yard. I also personally don't have a use for a lot of the Christmas-adjacent(?) holiday items that came with the Holiday packs, but obviously those are there for people who want their sims to celebrate other holidays (speking of the holiday pack, I don't have a use of the unnaturally colored hairs this pack brought. They're partly hidden and I usually forget about their existence anyway).

I don't often use the Halloween decor that looks like blow-up inflatables either, but given the time of year, I can confirm a lot of people in my (real-life) neighborhood use them or something very similar. Complete with fog and sound effects!

Something I never use: the snowman radio that plays very annoying Christmas music.

However, I did once make a tacky Christmas-themed tourist destination as a community lot and used every Christmas/winter item I could find to decorate it. I wish I had managed to keep that lot.

I use the privacy screens as decorative items. Sims don't actually need the privacy and I don't need an actual wall.

I don't have access to my game files right now, but here's one. Sometimes I use them as barriers in shared rooms for siblings, or to put in front of a floor to ceiling window in the bedroom of a highrise apartment. It's for my visual enjoyment, not the sims'.
