Default Professional hairstyles
Hello!

I am experimenting with hair replacements, and I noticed that, after unlockoutfits, most professional hairstyles have a duplicate. I mean, for example, the chef hat appears as chef hat and as chef hat_unlock. They appear most of the time twice in the catalogue and sometimes with a color difference (I don't mean differenr presets, but different color between the hairstyle and the hairstyle_unlock. Does anyone know when each of these hairstyles apply? As in, when the "normal" professional hairstyle is used and when the "unlock"?

Thank you.

It's a bit of a development artifact leftover from how they handle the hidden outfits.

There is a duplicate for every uniform as well.
The SIMOs that contain the career uniforms use the original CASPs.
When a sim reaches a career level with a uniform, that same CASP is added to their wardrobe.

The _unlock copies seem to belong exclusively to the use of the unlockoutfit cheat.
The question then of course, is why do these exist if that cheat also reveals all of the career outfits anyway? My guess is that perhaps it originally didn't and the wider unlock was introduced with a patch.

The _unlocks seem to be inferior in that they're only flagged for one category.
And the colour difference is just for the thumbnail, the default colour of a hair is never seen when applied to a sim but is what gets used when the thumbnail generates.

Thank you for taking the time to think about this. I would like to keep experimenting. When I said difference in color I didn't mean the hair itself, I meant the color or the hat. For example, the fedora hat for female is blue in the "normal" but brown in the "unlock". Or the Air Force Officer: the "normal" is an ugly plain blue while the "unlock" seems to be thebcorrect color white and dark navy with a golden batch.

That is done by editing the presets in the xml for each hat.

Thank you for your reply. I might be not explaining myself well. I know how to change the colors on the hats. What I am trying to understand is how and when they apply. As I said with the air officer hat, the normal version and the unlock version have different colors (not different presets as they are completely different objets with independent CASP). So if the Sim reach the career stage in which he or she will use that air force officer hat... which one will use: the plain blue or the white and golden (it means, the normal one or the unlock one)? And then in which cases the will the other one be in use naturally in the game.

As I noted, career uniforms always use the normal CASP.

The _unlock CASP will never appear naturally because they're not in any uniforms and they're not valid for random.
They may be different colours just to tell them apart in-game, or intentionally act as extra swatches to unlock with the cheat, or they may have simply been duplicated before EA settled on the final preset and thus have whatever they had at creation. Without any EA documentation on it, there's no way to know for sure.

It's been a long time since I played without any mods, but I think the "unlocked" versions are just garments that would appear in a vanilla CAS, if you wished to dress your Sim in those garments for some reason.

Yes, yes, thank you again. I understood before when you gave me initially your input about it. I was explaining my initial doubt again for LadySmoks' sake, in response to the last comment. But thank you again! :D
