Default custom objects reverting to original base Maxis names in catalog
Hello-

I recently installed downloaded and Ultimate Collection on my Lenovo laptop and am transferring my custom objects from my old HP desktop computer (where Sims2 runs from disk) using a flash usb drive. Most of my custom objects are build objects that are modified Maxis objects (i.e. The Breeze-Easy Window in many different sizes). Unfortunately, most of these objects now display in the game catalog with their original Maxis description instead of the new one that I created. I never had a problem with this on old HP PC.

I opened one of the packages in SimPE; the custom description I originally assigned to it is still there. Experimentally, I adjusted, committed, and saved the description, but it still shows in the buy catalog with the Maxis description.

Could this have something to do with permissions?

I appreciate any help -thank you

Most likely it's caused by the language chosen. There are two "English" languages, and if your game gets set up with the "wrong" one (the non-default one, don't know if it's the US version or the other), you'll see the original translation of the maxis object instead of the description you (or the original creator) put in.

One way to fix this is to open up each individual object, go to the "Description", click "Default language only" (Def Lang only), then commit and save. This changes all the language descriptions to the shown "default English" option, and deletes the translations (Personally, I prefer this option - it's easy, but could be a bit tedious if there are a lot of objects to change).

Either that, or copy the description to the other English language.
(For your own creations, keep in mind that if the items are shared, they'll still have the wrong description for other laguages).

A third option is to change the game language (never done this myself, but it's possible). It doesn't fix the object descriptions, but it is a solution to the problem.
