This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Possible Glitch?
Hey all, I was playing Sanjay Ramaswami who wanted to become a rock god but when he did, instead of paying him for that day's simoleons for his regular daily pay, it took -27986.00 simoleons from his family's household funds. I don't use any money mods to make things easier or harder. Also, I did a search online for this and didn't find any discussion related to this. Does anyone know if this is a glitch or is it supposed to work this way? I've seen this happen before and have been stumped as to why it would.

Add on: It gave him 9564.00 simoleon bonus, which doesn't help with what it took from him.

I've added a pic after figuring out to get one with ksnip. That tool is handy!

Hmm, my first guess is you ran into the problem Midge's Negative Promotion Bonus Fix is intended to correct: when a Sim gets promoted, if their new salary plus their promotion bonus exceeds §32,767 (can happen with, e.g., the Skilled Negotiator Aspiration benefit), their earnings overflow and become negative. This is the first time I've heard of it happening with the Music career, though.

This only happens with Natural Scientist because the wage is so high. It wouldn't happen with any other job unless you had modded the wages to be higher.

Hence my comment that it's the first time I've heard of it happening with the Music career. (Cue grumping about "What even is reading comprehension these days...." directed at no one in particular.)

Yes, the whole point of my comment was to explain why you wouldn't normally hear about this happening with the music career.

Thank you for the info G-Mon. I'll check out that mod. Do you think it would help with other careers? Of course, Sanjay isn't a fortune sim and doesn't have the perk mentioned.

That's so weird, kestrellyn, as I've never used a mod to make wages more or less either way. I like my sims to work for their money but not too hard and always left it at the Maxis default. The only wages mod I have is only for sims that are hired by sims who own their own business with Open For Business and it doesn't affect the jobs sims get via newspaper/computer.

I went thru all my installed mods and overrides and found none to do with the amount sims get paid from jobs found in the newspaper.

I'm super curious if anyone else has had this happen. It's so weird.

Well, what does it say his wage is in-game at the top of the music career?

Did he ever receive a networking benefit from interacting with townies? There's one networking benefit that gives higher wages. I think it can stack with the skilled negotiator fortune aspiration benefit, though I'm not sure if it would be enough to cause this.

Now this is where I would do a 50/50 or at least check all my latest mods to see if there is anything weird that I have forgotten about.

Congrats to Sanjay, anyway

Oh hey Modder, I don't remember if it was Sanjay but I do remember one of my sims having that Apartment Life thing happen. I bet it was him. I rotate families and play everyone so hadn't thought of that. It could be possible.

I just checked and it's 2830.00 simoleons. It doesn't make sense that he got money deducted with that being his new pay rate. I'm starting to wonder if it is a mod thing. At least between Priya and him, they still had plenty of money left after it happened. LOL
