Default Move-In Doesn't Work
Hello out there,

Yes, it's me again. May I please have your kind assistance with a query? One of my personally designed sims has become engaged to one of the computer designed and controlled sims, Jasmyn Carlson, but no matter what I press, the move-in option is visible, but it disappears before my sim can ask. Jasmyn is not already one of the students in the building. How do I get her to move in with my sim and therefore add her to the game?

Are you trying to move the sim into a dorm?

Thanks for your help and replies. Sorry, I haven't been here in a while, man.
Been enjoying Sims 2 Nightlife. I am really looking forward to the Holiday Pack add on EA is releasing in as months times 18 November 2005.

Yes, I am trying to move her into a dorm. The other thing I forgot to mention was that she is one of the secret society members. At the time I did not think it would make much difference. Clearly it does.

One of the other things I picked up from here was that some of these characters are possibly adults not young adults which could be another reason why the move-in doesn't work.

Another thing I read from one of the Sims 2 game guides was that the secret society buildings are invisible (obviously, man, otherwise it wouldn't be a secret society), and that one must be place in each and every Uni created. If not, certain game play opportunities with secret society will not work. I looked in the special lots for the Uni and found no secret society buildings there. So am I to assume it is already in the game?

I know it doesn't seem to make much sense, but that's what I read.

I even tried the patch updates for both expansions. No change.

Anyway, since I wrote my original note, I have had another idea. I am gonig to see if I can get Jasmyn to move-in with another of my Characters in Pleasantview. Probably won't work, but worth a try.

It doesn't matter if the sims you want to move in is a member of secret society. It only matters that s/he is a young adult (see below)

Yes, the buildings for secret societys are already in-game, one for each university.

While on the campus, you can only let NPCs move in when you (or your sims) live in a resident. Move-in doesn't work with dorms. (*sigh* miss that option, too...) If you add another of your sims to an existing household on the campus though, one of the there living NPCs will give up her/his room to let the new student move in.

The patch fixes the problem that, when you got engaged on the campus and graduated and went back to your neighborhood, you couldn't get the (still young adult) move into your home in the neighborhood. This is now possible.

Hope this helps

All Maxis made universities have secret societies. Custom universities have to have one made.

Ah, right, I see. Thanks for putting me right. I'm surprised they didn't allow others ism to movie into dorms when you ask them. Ah, well, man, I suppose you can't have everything.

Thanks again everyone.
