Default Number of downloads allowed
I've been downloading a lot of stuff recently and was wondering if there is a limit to what you can put into the original Sims 2. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have not reached a limit yet and my main game has close to 11 gigs in it already. I have read it is dependant on your computer, not positive, just something I have read. Happy downloading!

Like Daysies states below, mine are all in sub-folders, not in the same folder.

there is no written rule as to the # of files can go into a folder, so be practical and don't put everything in one folder, especially if you're a downloadaholic. i mean, you have to judge it for yourself because the size of each file can make a difference, too. if you have 10,000 files and it takes a few minutes to open the folder, the folder is overstuffed. so size of the folder and # of files go hand in hand. since you can subfolder items in Nightlife (including Body Shop files), it's probably best (and i personally recommend this) to use Clean Installer and organize your Downloads and put like items (like all clothing) in one folder, etc.

I'll agree with daysies....

Also when you start your game,
And after all the logo's and the animation have played.
and the next theme starts and it takes longer to load.

It's because its loading all you got in your download folder
and the game starts the next screen

I guess a rule of thumb is:
If you wait longer for your game to load
each time you add gobs of stuff to your download folder
and your game stops then you know you have it to full.

When I first started my game, Zoom Zoom it loaded fast.
One to two minutes it would load fast(no downloads)

Now,,,It take from five to ten minutes to load
I got 865 MB in my download folder right now.

Thats because im a downloadaholic
And it MTS2 fault,,lol, lol,,,,no just kidding.

I never delete anything, I burn it on cd's and keep it later.
So that my folder won't get so full. And my computer.

Don't ask how much I got on cd's,,,,, :bandit:

Zeldaop, These folks have given you sound advice. When I first got the sims2 I was a download idiot. I say idiot because I downloaded everything that was even remotely close to an acceptable item. I was also bad about downloading hacks, all of them!! I wanted them all!! I then found out about hacks compatibility (or should I say the lack there of) with each other. After a short period of misery I dumped it all and did a clean install. My hacks under control, a reasonable number of items, so next it was houses! Again a huge mess from hidden hacks. The morale of my boring story ; download what you want, but only if you really use it. Make sure hacks work with each other. For me a lean mean fast loading machine, with just a few beloved hacks, and a dash of custom content makes my simming much more pleasant! 1 minute 25 seconds, total load time. Not bad for an old slow computer. Good luck and good simming!
