To Furnish or Not to Furnish?

Yay, my first journal entry!

So lately, without much luck, I've been trying to determine if people generally prefer furnished or unfurnished houses? I know that personally I much prefer furnished, but is that the case with the majority of simmers, or do most people just rip the furnishings out of a DLed house and put in their own?

Another question is, if the house is furnished... HOW furnished IS it? Some houses are what I would consider "partially furnished". This is how most of the Maxis houses are... you know, the bathroom is there, the kitchen is there, and usually not much else. Some houses are mostly furnished, meaning the "large" furniture (beds, counters, couchs, etc) are there, but there's not much in the way of decorations, lighting, etc... and then there's fully furnished, which is.. well.. fully furnished.

What do most people prefer? Can that even be answered? Maybe it's all just a rich tapestry and I need to get over it, but I find myself struggling with that whole issue, of just how furnished my uploaded lots should be.
Mood: Confuzzled

I prefer unfurnished houses because the more of buildings I've downloaded aren't beautiful decorated and I think the more creators not attend how is furnished the house!

I like houses furnished, others usually decorate better than I do.

I don't know how else to contact you but I'm having a problem with the diagonal windows being blue in your brownstones. I downloaded the georgian sets and put the whole sets in my game. Is there another window that might be missing? I love the brownstones, looks like Boston.

I'm the oddball out here, but I love unfurnished houses. It annoys me when I have to download a whole bunch of furniture and the like, since it clutters up my downloads folder and I never end up using it anyway. Then even if I use Clean Installer to remove the objects and whatnot that I don't want, something in the lot always ends up flashing blue, and it's a right pain in the arse. I like to redecorate according to my own tastes too, so I always end up stripping the house of all its furniture.

I like furnished houses, sometimes I can't be bother to decorate them myself unless it's a starter (partially furnished with the basics would do just fine).
But what really turn me down is a heap load of custom content - walls, terrians and floorings are okay but a FULL SET of furniture, decor and plants are not okay. As long as it is minimal (few cc windows there and then), and nicely furnished (of course), I'm FINE! :-)

I probably wouldn't download a completely unfurnished house, or one with only fittings (bathrooms and kitchens). That said, on the other end of the spectrum, I don't like having to zoom around everywhere deleting curtains and paintings and wall scones. I would most prefer to download houses with big furnishings and maybe a little bit of decoration (a pot plant here or there) but without lighting and curtains, etc.

I prefer furnished homes. I might make a few changes later myself, but it saves time and I get great ideas from other people.

Generally i prefer unfurnished houses, but don't mind a few things here and there- ie) toilet and sink, kitchen. Pretty much how good ol' maxis does it.

I like houses to be furnished with some things, like a kitchen, bathroom and big furniture at least. I do usually take the furnishings out and replace them with my own, but I keep the layout and I don't like staring at empty box-rooms when I've downloaded a lot. That said, there's nothing more annoying than refurnishing and finding wall scones on every second tile.

I agree with two previous posters,I always prefer fully furnished houses. Not only because of the custom content, but also because people who decide to fully furnish their lots usually put a lot of effort to make it good I also don't have a lot of patience for decorating, but I love to see nicely decorated room

I usually prefer to download fully furnished. I love to see the custom content and other items I might not find on my own. That being said, tho', I usually strip it to minimum decorations and/or furniture to make the lot easier to play. Hence my gigantic dl folder :b
