I grow so tired of this...and yet I appreciate the idea of this site, so I keep coming back. Usually I'd just roll my eyes and not touch the sims for a few months until I felt like giving something else ago, but a surprising amount of people seemed to really want Rorschach, which is why I made him, and thus...why I decided to fill the rest of you in.

Despite being first skeptical of how one would go about doing Rorschach's "face", I figured just a full face special-effects mask should do the trick, and adding the same texture to the hair section of the Maxis fedora. I was all excited finding all Maxis's meshes so the mods here wouldn't get all uppity about clean installer not doing something properly. I was all finished with them and ready to upload...and then the site went down.

And then finally I saw it was back up, so this afternoon before work I uploaded Laurie and Rorschach. Laurie was approved before I even had Rorschach fully submitted. I was pretty surprised. I don't remember word for word the bio/explication I wrote for Rorschach but it was something I wrote because I didn't want to just copy and paste from wikipedia. In it I explained why Rorschach might look more skeletal than some might like, because I wanted him to function as Walter as well, and I figured it would be easier for people to plump out Rorschach, than try and sculpt Walter. I included this picture in the text section.

And now, its with a very saddened heart that I inform those of you waiting Rorschach that he's been rejected. Not a "changes required", just flat out rejected. Because he (are you ready?) 1. didn't resemble the celebrity/character enough and 2. was missing comparison/required screenshots.

My thoughts (and since the bottom of their message clearly states replys will not be read, I figure this is as good a place as any to state them)-

"If your sim is not recognizable as the celebrity or character without looking at the title of your thread, it will be rejected. It does not have to be perfect, but the resemblance must be obviously and easily identifiable."

Personally, I think Rorschach looks more instantly recognizable as Rorschach than both my Silk Spectre and Dr. Manhattan. Rorschach is iconic. I thought this sim captured him well.

As far as the "missing pictures" thing goes...if it was because I didn't upload the shot of Walter in the attachments, I apologize I was simply trying to save MTS2 as much file space as I could since that's not the sims intended purpose. If its because of the source picture isn't up to par...I used the same source as I did for Laurie. And when I uploaded Jon I forgot a comparison completely, and I got a 'Requires Changes' for it.

Basically...idk what to do. Try uploading him as Walter, since its seems there was no love for poor Rorschach as he is. Should I try to...somehow, make him resemble Rorschach more than I think he does. Say screw trying to make it work double for Rorschach/Walter and plump up the face. Although that would screw me over for any needed unmasked photos. Or is any of it worth the effort since I'd have to start the upload from scratch, since they decided to reject it instead of saying it just needed changing?

This isn't meant to bitch and moan, but to honestly try and get opinions, because many of you seemed to really want a Rorschach and I do feel bad. I made him specifically because he was wanted.

Wut mesh did u use for the Rorshach coat thing,I just went on body shop and it didn't show you said it was all Maxis content but which one I just downloaded him and the coat dosnt show pleeeeez help

Firstly Delphy, your first and last statement seem to contradict each other, considerably.

Beyond that, I wonder...can you read? Or did you just begin typing your response after reading the title. You, quite rudely, state twice that I "failed to give all the facts" and have "no grounds for starting this entry". I wanted to include the entire message, but it was too many characters. Still, what facts have I failed to mention? I found this rather perplexing:

I'm well aware of both reasons, which IS why I clearly mention the second reason, which you apparently could not see, not once but TWICE in my journal:

You may say that the shots I submitted were still incorrect, and you may be right. But the point is, I still mentioned that reason for rejection in this journal post. Hmmmmm...way to go to NOT even bother to read ALL of what I said before being unnecessarily rude and condescending.

If you feel that I'm using the journal to "bitch" about my sim getting rejected, fine, maybe if you'd actually read the whole thing you'd see otherwise. But I know (as it has been extremely useful for coming to a decision) that it was meant to gain opinions (hence at the end me giving 3 possible solutions) on what to do from those who had specifically requested Rorschach from me: fans of Watchmen, people who know what he looks like, and know that his mask/face is supposed to be a "blurry mess".

No where in my journal did I say anything about any member of the staff. Nor did I instigate or encourage anyone else to do so. And yet you come here, and spread nothing but negativity- the reasons for which I honestly don't understand. More than twenty fans of Watchmen have expressed that they were just as confused as me, because we all see him as instantly recognizable. You can dislike my sim, for whatever reason, till you're blue in the face, but he WAS rejected for NOT RESEMBLING the character, NOT for having poor texture quality, as you're now claiming. There's a big difference in the two, hence the widespread confusion. Regardless of any of this I can't believe that there are not more pressing issues for the site owner to deal with. I see no reason for my journal to have been removed from my main page, or for the negativity. Throughout this I've tried to remain as positive as possible- looking for ways to solve, without being pissed off. No one was being obscene or vulgar (I believe you were the first one to swear in fact). People make rude comments to other users all the time and nothing is done, but for just disagreeing with the powers that be at this site, they've been threatened with the removal of this post and therefore my means of contacting them when 1. I fix the sim or 2. remove all non-maxis based cc (ie skintone and eyes) and email it to them directly.

For whatever completely unintentional reason my journal entry, my sim, or me myself have offended or upset you Delphy- or any other staff member, I apologize. Clearly one of those was the case, but it was in no way, shape, or form my intention; or even something that occurred to me might happen. I also apologize on behalf of all the other members who tried to help me solve this situation, and were seemingly considered "spammers" for trying to solve an issue that is apparently deemed unfounded by anyone with a say on this site.

ANYONE WANTING RORSCHACH PLEASE JUST PM/EMAIL ME. The 20+ opinions already given don't matter worth a dime and commenting here is clearly only upsetting the powers that be. I don't want anyone getting blocked or this journal getting removed more than it already has. Thank you.

Okay to all of you who think that "stating your opinion will get you banned"... you are still posting, so obviously thats wrong.

Just becuase something is not accepted doesn't mean that people need to start bashing us. We DO have clear and high quality guidelines. We DO reject things when they do not meet the guidelines, and, honestly, the face looks like a blurry mess - regardless of if it's "instantly recognisable" if the texturing is bad then it'll get rejected.

Also, way to go to NOT even bother to say ALL of the rejection reasons and just focus on ONE. You actually got rejected with TWO reasons - the second of which was the comparison pics one. If you fail to read the guidelines enough to even bother to submit proper comparison pics, and then bitch that your sim got rejected for "not being good enough" when you didn't even submit it properly then, sorry, but you have no grounds to start this entry.

A journal is NOT the place to bitch about something being rejected. That is what Creator Issues is for, and Creator Feedback for improving things. It specifically states in the rejection PM how to go about asking why something was rejected. You have failed to do that and failed to give all the details.

Continue with this bashing of the staff here and this entire entry will be removed.

I think this is amazing and you should put it up! Also you should try to make all of the watchmen because that would be AWESOME! (Or the minute men if you study up...)

I think he looks great, I love Watchmen, I'm re-reading the graphic novel now and went to see the film opening weekend and I instantly recognized him.

Well, that sucks. not only do i think this looks a LOT like jackie in watchmen, i kind of think its ridiculous whats happening seeing as we've asked you to make him, and we have said it looks ridiculously like him!
Where ever you upload your Sims please tell me, as they are fantastic compared to some of the photoshopped stuff that's on here.
and pleasepleaseplease do make the rest of the Watchmen..Eddy/Silk Spectre I especially, i loves them! :D

Psssst. Actor's name is Jackie Earle Haley, that should work.

I don't really understand how he could possibly get rejected. He's INSTANTLY RECOGNIZABLE. It's such a shame, I've been checking the site constantly just to see if you were going to make a Rorschach. Not only did you make him, but it's really good and I would have totally downloaded him. D:

Pixelhate (I love you creations), I've been banned from speaking my mind. I wanted to push the boundaries and get some discussion going about the random manner and the fear of originality in allowing uploads. (When uploading a wall set (18 months ago), the comment I got was : "Nobody would put this in their Sim homes."... duh!?
So I completely understand why Meshy114 gave up as I did.
Aymo87, don't worry. It wouldn't surprise me if the moderator who rejected Rorshach never saw or heard of him.

I'm sad. I was really excited to see the other Watchmen characters, and am a little disappointed that the MAIN CHARACTER was rejected. Rorschach is the only true hero in the movie and your attention to detail is amazing! It really does look like him, costume too! I certainly hope that they will rescind their decision; maybe after they've read the comic or seen the movie, the moderators will catch the resemblance.

While looking through the MTS2 site, I found so many sims that did not look like the celebrity they were trying to mimic. As I said before in my previous comment, MTS2 should be ashamed for not letting such a good creation on their site. I can not wait till you post Rorschach on that other site.

That's stupid he looks exactly like the character. He is perfect. Who ever judged your upload is probably a fan who expects way too much. Isn't there a way we can start a thread or something kind of like a petition for him to be accepted? If they don't accept him I vote you add us all to your contacts and email him to us... just kidding that would take too long. Thanks for making him he is awesome. AW I WANT HIM more than any sim on here!

Are you seriously going to make the rest?! That's too cool! I'd love to have The Comedian! He and Rorschach are my favorites. *Spoiler Alert* Ironically, they were the only ones who saw the true side of human nature. And they were the only one's who ended up dead in the end. *End of Spoiler*

As for thinking I'd get banned.... well, either people love or hate DL's site... Note sure what people think here or what the mods here think about that site... (mostly it's over being file-share friendly) Honestly, it's easier to not have to remove stuff out of the sims2pack... others think I need to kiss the feet of the mesh maker and add a link, but not add the stuff, then making people have to search and search and then download.... pain in the booty! I still give credit, but I see it as convenient.

I just wanted to say that I think your Rorschach looks fantastic, and I'd love to download him. I too know what it's like to have one of your uploads rejected here, even though you know the quality of it is up to standards and hell, it's a lot better than anything else out there on the same subject. So I understand your frustration. If you do get him uploaded on another site, would it be possible to PM me the link too? Thank you so much.

pixelhate- oh where to begin. your in the minority for thinking you wont get banned for speaking your mind. i know many people here, who've expressed that they feel that way. its not that i'm "unsatisfied" with the "reason" i think its a dodgy one, and that's neither here nor there. this journal was meant to gather opinions from those who REQUESTED Rorschach, as I said not to bitch and moan. But thank you, for your out of left field thoughts about what was the intended purpose of Rorschach's rejection, and my ego, and your approval that I might take my work elsewhere. Very helpful. This has put quite a hinder on Adrian, Dan, and Eddy, but hopefully we'll get it sorted out soon. I'll message you all with the link once I get him up on Sim~Antics. As far as MTS2 goes...I think I'll try making a separate Walter(as is) and Rorschach with a slightly plumper face (instead of a mesh, cus I can' mesh and finding someone who can could take ages), and an additional costume pack. I think for now, I'll omit including Jackie's name...because that would just be another excuse for them to re-reject him, saying he didn't look enough like Jackie. Thanks again guys.

- I don't think anyone will be banned for speaking his/her mind as long as it is done in a decent and respectful way.
-It is always possible to contact a mod and ask for clarification on reasons for rejection. Feedback forum is also there for that.
- It is always possible to be unsatisfied with the reasons given and decide to offer your creation, as it is, in other places. No one will blame you for that.
It is also possible the see the rejection as an opportunity to improve what you've done. It is difficult for a creator to have some distance about his/her creation.
A rejection, I believe, is nothing done against a person or a volition, it basically says : "we believe you can do better". It's up to you and your ego to feel offended or encouraged by such statement

About the character:

Go Figure. It's the reason I do not upload here. Because providing a non-photoshoped, but very decent picture is not good enough here.

I'm probably going to be banned the moment I say this, but the site that I upload my stuff on is DLMuslow's Sim~Antics. Your stuff and anyone else's is more than welcome (so long as it stays pg-13, obviously...) And since I'm not afraid of any poo that might fling my way, my name there is Meshy614.

Rorschach would be more than welcome there!

Heck, you could just use mediafire or box or anything else and just provide a link here.

Damn, I've been checking this page for days hoping he'd be up. D: I agree with the poster suggesting you could upload him to mediafire, or (dare I say) to another sims site. I seriously can't understand why the mods would reject that, it's clearly not using a default face or anything. For god's sake, the man's practically a hobo, his face is not what you'd call chubby.

Are they serious? I thought he looked incredible. Walter's face was great, he should look really thin. And I never though anyone could make such a good Rorschach face!

Too please the mods I was thinking along the lines of Sims*Freak001 with the mask mesh, (maybe as part of his hat, somehow?) but that would be a huge pain and I think it looks fine as it is now.

Grrs @ MTS2. Sorry about that. I know how hard you work on your sims.

Agh! That makes no sense!

Your version of him looks almost identical to the poster that you attached. Maybe if there was some way to get the mesh edited so that his scarf was covering his neck more...

Besides that, it's perfect. And I think he looks more like the comic version of Walter. Why should you have to make him look like JEH? People upload anime sims all the time that never look anything like the characters.

Le sigh. If worse comes to worse, you could always upload him to mediafire or something and distribute him through there. Hope things work out because I personally love this sim.

Perhaps you could submit him as "Jackie Earl Haley playing Rorschach"? And definitely keep the Walter Kovacs sim under the mask. I have no idea how to make the mask look more "fleshed out"... unless you used a mesh, but that would be difficult. I don't even know if there is one that would work.

your rorschach/walter looks so much like the character, i cant see why it was rejected! its so awesome. theres one rorschach on sims2 website but definately isn't as good or as detailed as this!
