Total Recall (the 2012 remake with Colin Farrell)
Tried watching it just last night with hubby and couldn't get through even 1/3 of it.
I thought it was mediocre, to say the least, and not entertaining enough to keep our interest.
Arnie's original version was much more intriguing!

i honestly can't find any thing wrong with this movie, it's a great family movie
I saw that and enjoyed it very much. My son tells me that KFP2 is even better. It's on my must watch list.

Tangled - 8.5-9/10 - I loved this movie! This was my first time watching it. I don't have a lot of faith in the newer Disney films - I recently saw Frozen and, I have to say, I think it was overhyped. Nothing about it made me love it. This film on the other hand.. wow, it had absolutely everything I loved about the Disney classic films.. Just with better graphics! Amazing! I loved the character of Rapunzel and I definitely need a Flynn Ryder in my life. I loved Max the horse as well as the chameleon Pascal. Made me laugh at times and sob! I would honestly recommend it to people who loved the old Disney Princess films
I loved the scene where Rapunzel went through rapid fire changes in emotion, thinking about getting away and then worrying about her mother's reaction. I loved that line, "Here comes the smoulder". The folk dance was very beautiful, although I wished they had chosen something authentic to the region instead of a Celtic dance.

It was on TV about a month ago but i had just finished washing my hair, it only had 30 minutes to go but i couldn't hear it because i had the hair dryer on which takes about 10-15 minutes to do so by the time i had finished drying my hair it wasn't really worth watching the last few minutes when i had missed nearly the whole film. i might borrow it from my cousin sometime in the future.

Titanic - 9/10
It takes a little while to get going but I personally love this film. It is visually stunning and I love the romance of Jack and Rose. I can see why the romance may come across as a little too contrived.. But I love it, sorry. I think Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet do a great job. Some of the other actresses/actors do a brilliant job too. The last 80 minutes of the film are utterly heartbreaking and I think the effects are great. The film is also brilliant at reducing me to tears. I am a self-confessed sop and I love a bit of drama and suspense, so I enjoyed this movie thoroughly.

Hi,

So... (my school teacher always said never to start a sentence with "so". So...) Yesterday I saw a film, and now I want to share my experience:

The Book Thief
Essentially, it's a war film about a young, adopted girl who had to live through the horrors of the Second World War.
Let me be straight: it's a poor film. It doesn't show neither the reality nor horrors of war. You could argue that it's because of German civilian perspective, but still... There is so much sugar coating here it actually hurts eyes to watch. Characters are plain good / bad, kids are so cute they look like taken strait from a Disney cartoon, they wear excellent quality always spot clean clothes, the "main" family claims to live in poverty, yet I never noticed that causing them any problems. Even worse: there is hardly any plot, very little happens... I was bored halfway through the movie waiting for something, ANYTHING to push the story forward, but sadly nothing happened. I guess the main characters are likeable (especially the "father") and acting is between decent and good. That's not enough imo.
Also... What the frack is with the implementation of supernatural? What I mean is, that Death is the narrator in this film. Why? It doesn't add anything, in fact, by the way it's handled, it takes away any "seriousness" that might have been hiding somewhere. There are many waaaay better films that show ugliness of WW2: The Schindler's List or The Pianist, even The Enemy At The Gates or Saving Private Ryan for those more action oriented viewers.
And again, what's with the supernatural bit? A total miss here. For good war drama / fantasy go watch Pan's Labyrinth a.k.a. El Laberinto del Fauno.

With all that in mind, The Book Thief is 4/10, and I'm being generous here.

Trailer if you still feel like watching:

Godzilla (2014)
8/10
Godzilla is a great film but i think Godzilla should have been featured more in the film also i think the film would have been a bit better they did some Godzilla's Point of View Shots. i personally like Godzilla (1998) better. but my opinion may change once i have watched the new one a few more times.

Finding Nemo - 6/10
Some people are die-hard fans of this movie.. I'm not quite and I'm not sure why. I think it's good to watch, but I'm not madly in love with it. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it! I never thought about it when I watched it as a kid, but this film is actually really deep for an animated film. Like, without spoiling anything, when I watched it last night I actually understood why Marlin was such an over-protective dad. And noticed his change of character at the end. Stuff like that is sweet I think, I definitely overlooked it when I was a kid. Anyway it's definitely an entertaining Pixar film and I recommend watching. I love the character of Dory, I love the three sharks and Squirt the sea-turtle is really cute.

VerDeTerre 20th Nov 2014 9:25 AM

I love that scene, where the gulls say, "Mine, mine! Mine!" and when Dory calls Nemo her "squishy".

TiesiogAsh 24th Nov 2014 6:58 PM

Stoker 8/10

Trying to be objective here... I LOVED the movie and ended up rewatching it immediately, but mostly because I loved Mia Wasikowska's acting, the soundtrack (Nancy Sinatra's Summer Wine, Philip Glass' Duet and the credits song... oh my gosh <3), the camerawork, the subtle eroticity and the "dark" vibe - it's possibly one of the most morbid coming off age stories out there. All that being said, I'm a female in my early 20s, so this (the music, learning what it means to be an adult, and Wasikowska) is very relatable to me - somebody with a different profile may not feel the same way! Gave it an 8 because I felt like the character development could have been stronger and some of the topics weren't properly explored.

Cars
9/10
i love this film, even though route 66 is real, Radiator springs is not real, if it was i would've definitely tried to visit radiator springs because the town is really beautiful in the movie. One of my favourite parts of the film is where Lightning McQueen and Sally drive to the wheel well because the route they take to go there is breath taking also i love driving that route on my PS2 cars game but i keep getting lost when i take that route to the wheel well.

NabucodonosorII 25th Nov 2014 12:40 PM

Annabelle - 4/10

I almost stop watching because the movie was really boring. When I was younger, I used to watch just thriller movies, so now almost every movie I watch, it look a cliché. Haha... Annabelle is really waste of time.

coolsim22 26th Nov 2014 12:30 AM

Cars 2
9/10
i thinks this film is just as good as the first one also the film remind me about James Bond because of the secret agents. the other times i watched Cars 2 i didn't really understand it but today i finally managed to understand what the bad cars were trying to do.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
7/10

Yes. I saw this movie YESTERDAY. I just couldn't handle not understanding all the 42 and towel jokes anymore.
Zoey's performance was terrible in my opinion, and I love her.
I was just expecting this epic space opera and it was just a funny-dorky scy fi comedy. So yeah... It's fun, I guess...

Mordecai and Rigby 26th Nov 2014 12:51 AM

Elf - 6/10
I'll admit there were some parts that made me laugh out loud, but it was still pretty fucking weird. The Christmas spirit sadly isn't about Jesus anymore, it's about stupid Santa Claus and a human raised as an elf and penguins in the north pole and New York and pointless sexy bits like some girl singing and taking a shower at a mall in the middle of the night, like no one's gonna find me here, I can't just take a God damn shower in the morning or do it at someone else's house. Oh, and trolls who aren't potty trained. Seriously, we're supposed to believe in this crap?

Though at times there was some pretty good music. That was a plus.

Mockingjay Part 1 - 8/10

I think they did a really good job, just like they did with The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. From what I remember about the book, they seem to have kept to it pretty well, and since they're splitting Mockingjay in two they had enough time to go into some of the interesting social and political dynamics of the book. There were some really powerful moments, the actors were good, and there was enough action to keep my interest.

Also, while Jennifer Lawrence's performance of "The Hanging Tree" was good, my absolute favorite version has to be this one.

pirate_wolf_12 27th Nov 2014 2:30 AM

I was gonna write a full on review but I gave up a paragraph in, so I'll keep it short.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.

Sometimes splits work, other times it's clear the producers are dragging it out for all the money they can get. harry Potter is the former, Twilight the latter. I'm still not sure with the Hunger Games, I think I'd have to see the second half to know. But there were pacing issues in the first, to me it's like they have too much content for just one film, but not enough for two. The scenes the writers added to the movie were great. It's nice to see Snow outside of Katniss's talks with him and the scenes in the other districts were probably the best in the film.

I'd say it did lack action though. District 8's battle was brief and the scenes towards the end in the Capitol uneventful. I respect the series for having a large political focus and showing the effects of PTSD, but with two movies they could have easily had that and more action.

Great acting throughout, memorable music and I love the world building with Panem.

I'll give it 8/10.

efolger997 27th Nov 2014 7:40 AM

Happy People: A Year in the Taiga. I'll give it an 8/10. It kept my interest though it was a documentary film and I really liked seeing how these hunters and trappers lived. It was an interesting look at another way of life, one with very limited technology and no modern convenience.

I've never seen the movie and I'm still not sure that I want to, but the book was great!

Thanks for the reviews of Mocking Jay I - I want to see it, but think I'll wait for it on DVD.

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs
10/10

Kung Fu Panda 2 8.5/10 That was beautiful! The artwork and music were magical and just lovely. The story was great - I know so much more about Po now. At the end, there was a hint of things to come in KFP3. Can't wait!

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2
10/10
I love this film, it made me want to be able to reach in to the TV like on the film Charlie and the chocolate factory so that i could hold Barry because he is so cute i. I'm sure Sam's hair is much lighter than it was in the first film. i honestly like the second Cloudy with a chance of meatballs better than the first one.

Christmas with the Kranks
8/10
i find this film quite funny and i really enjoy watching this movie at Christmas

Maleficent - 7/10

It was pretty good. Not unbelievably amazing, as my friend insisted it would be, but I enjoyed the added perspective on the whole Sleeping Beauty story. The overuse of CGI turned me off a bit though.

Deck the halls
8/10
This is one of my favourite Christmas films.

Oculus
9/10

I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a good psychological horror movie, well-acted, brilliantly shot. There were a couple of scenes that made me jump and throughout the movie I was really awake, and invested in the movie. There were some scenes at the very end that were not as scary (when they add in more visions of the 'people with glowing eyes'). You know how the ending will go, but throughout the movie it changed a bit, and how they intertwined the past with the present helped with that confusion. Overall, I really enjoyed it and would watch again at a later date.
