I've just finished 'The Executioner' by C.C Humphreys. What a great novel. Although I do not believe Anne Boleyn had six fingers on one hand. The story line is fascinating and well worth a read.

In the last two weeks I've read:

The Chrysalids, John Wyndham (interesting premise, but the ending falls flat)
The English Patient, Michael Ondaatje (a bit hard to follow, but enjoyed the characters)
The Cellist of Sarajevo, Steven Galloway (loved this. Wonderful characters and atmosphere)
The Assault (De Aanslag), Harry Mulisch (very interesting study of guilt, quick and very enjoyable read)

Right now I've just started on The Book of Negroes, by Lawrence Hill. Amazing what being sick and bedridden can do for a girl's reading schedule. :P

Magic And Pancakes 28th Dec 2012 3:45 AM

The Six Wives of Henry VIII by Alison Weir.

I haven't gotten too far in it (Henry is still trying to get rid of Katherine to marry Anne) but it's pretty good so far.

Phoeberg 28th Dec 2012 8:22 PM

I'm about to start In Search Of Schrodinger's Cat, by John Gribbin.

Not my usual book at all but hopefully it will be interesting. I'm bracing myself for the jokes already: "You did know it wasn't about a cat when you bought it, right?"

Just started reading Animal Farm by George Orwell. It's perfect timing really considering it's based on the events leading up to the Russian Revolution, as well as the Stalin era and I took a Russian history class this past semester.

Zela 10th Jan 2013 7:24 PM

The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. I loved the film so much and I didn't get through much of The Fellowship so I thought I would give this a try instead.

Ruby River By Lynn Pruett

It's a really good book. If you like a page turning, romantic suspense set mainly at a Truck Stop in a small Alabama town.
You'd love this.
Family Secrets, Prostitution Scandals, Strong single mother of 4, Enraged Christians, Teen girl with an older married man....
