Passing of 2 great Sims creators

Hi all,

It is with great sadness that I have leart, in the past day or so, of the passing of 2 great Sims creators.

The first, CmarNYC, has contributed greatly to the modding community with some excellent programs and utilities, and has been active for many years. She was a great person to talk to and very helpful! She was known for the SimRipper, various texture conversions, and being an all-round nice woman. She passed away in October 2023, and her obituary can be found here: https://www.forevermissed.com/camille-g-marinetti/about

The second, rebecah, who also ran Affinity Sims, was a prolific creator known by many in the community, who had some excellent content and provided many items for all types of Simmer. She passed away earlier this month, and her obituary can be found here: https://www.echovita.com/us/obituar...njamin-17488324

Both will be greatly missed in the community, and we here at MTS wish their families and loved ones, and all of us in the community who knew them, the best in their hour of grief.

Regards,
MTS staff

Very sad indeed, two creators who made a huge impact on the Simming world. Lovely words @Tashiketh and I also send my condolences to their families and friends.

Very sad news! :'(

Wow, this is a very sad time.
Some days ago I learned about the death of TFM and Victor Andrade.
Today I just learned about Cmar and Rebecah's death...
Wow, how many beloved and talented creators are leaving us these days and so soon, I suppose.
Very, very sad!
My condolences to the families of these dear people.

YoNonna 22nd Jan 2024 11:29 PM

My heart goes out the families. I am thankful for what they gave to us through their talent and how they enriched the lives not only of simmies but of the people who knew them. Such a sad day indeed! Thank you for letting us know.

Who is TFM?

Sad times for the Sims community.

TFM is from The Sims Asylum. I think she's the creator of the site. Her son is taking care of the site now.
I think TFM means= 2 feet mom. Just my guess.

mustluvcatz 23rd Jan 2024 5:22 AM

TFM is Twoftmama.

Rebecah is the only one I really know. Any time I ever needed to speak with her, she was always very kind and helpful. Some of my own cc is based on her's in some way. RIP Beck.

ZagtheMan 23rd Jan 2024 5:38 PM

The works created by Cmar and rebecah were the reason why I was able to get into the Sims in the first place. Their impacts will not be forgotten. May they rest in peace

Victor Andrade? The one behind the SNB mod for Sims 4? Man... I don't play Sims 4 much, but that is an absolutely essential mod anytime I play. What a genius he was.

This year starts with some rough news...

My most heartfelt condolences to each one's families. I've heard about each one of the four that the community lost lately. They had amazing creations going on.

Yes, @LimeyYoshi...such sad news.
I didn't know any of them personally, but these bad news had a huge impact on me.
All of you who make me happy (yes, you really do) with all your talent and creativity are already part of my life.
Eventhough we just talk or get help virtually.

P.S.: forgot to say: yes, Victor Andrade (QuackGames)

taraincognita 23rd Jan 2024 10:06 PM

Such sad news. When I saw Cmar's name I gasped. Both were excellent modders but Cmar is the one quite familiar to me, she was helpful, talented, kind, and acted like a pro. Made the Sims much more playable - will be greatly missed. Condolences to everyone who knew either of them in person.

Jereponibus 24th Jan 2024 1:42 AM

I am so sorry to hear about both of their passing. This is heartbreaking and I can imagine the grieving that their families are going through. Reading about how Cmar had pancreatic cancer struck close to home, as my mom died from that back in 2021.

May Cmar and Rebecah both rest in peace!

mbryo3939 24th Jan 2024 11:59 AM

It's very sad, and I was a bit surprised by their ages. I guess in my mind I always pictured models either young or middle age. It's cool to know many elderly love the game and are even a big part of the modding community.

Is it true that twoftmama and Victor Andrade also passed away? I haven't heard about this anywhere else. If so, that is sad as well. I have used mods from all of these wonderful and creative people. They will be missed and thank you to them for all the ways they've helped the community and impacted our gameplay.

EDIT: I have found the information about Victors passing. How very sad.

simsample 24th Jan 2024 12:22 PM

A bit about Victor here in case anyone else hasn't seen- so young, very sad news.

I just checked for you. Her son posted about it on the Sims Asylum (the place that she founded) in October last year so yeah, it's very much true. It's just a members-only website so that's probably why it took a while for this information to trickle out.

Honeywell 24th Jan 2024 4:40 PM

I'm so sorry to hear this news. I didn't know them personally but they were so much part of the community you can't help but feel their loss. I hope family and friends take some measure of comfort knowing they were held in such esteem in the Sims community.

Thanks for letting us know.

Kestin 25th Jan 2024 1:26 AM

Oh wow. I'm not familiar with the first, but I've always had a healthy collection of Beck's stuff. Either way, sad news

Oh okay, I will look there. I am actually a member there so I should be able to read it. So sad to lose so many great minds in the Sim community in such a short time. It's a shame.

the only name I recognized on here was CmarNYC, but it still sucks that cmar and the other people passed. my condolences to their family and friends.

Very sad for the news, I used their mods and contents for a better playing experience.
Very very sad.
My hugs to their families and friends

Sejian 25th Jan 2024 7:52 PM

Sad news indeed.

I was amazed to read that both of these women were in their 70s. I'm barely half their ages! It's heartening to see how strong the threads are that keep us together across generations.

I've been listening to older Dido songs for quite some hours over the past couple days. Fitting that the album I'm on while reading this is Safe Trip Home. Grafton Street is a beautiful song and feels right for the occasion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jl6u0SVtGUo

And I just read about twoftmama and Victor Andrade. Heavy sigh.

GabyPurpleB 25th Jan 2024 8:57 PM

Damn, my heart sank when I saw the news. I hope they're both resting in peace

Dorsal Axe 26th Jan 2024 2:57 PM

Very sad news. I also hadn't heard the news about twoftmama and Victor Andrade, which is such blow to learn on top of Cmar and Rebecah. What a huge loss to the community in a relatively short amount of time. I send my sincere condolences to all of their loved ones.

Charity 26th Jan 2024 3:52 PM

I don't know the two TS4 people and I only vaguely remember twoftmama, but my condolences to their families.

I use Becks stuff a lot and always remember her being helpful.

So sad to lose them all.

Corylea 26th Jan 2024 4:21 PM

They were both wonderful contributors whose work I enjoyed using; they're a real loss to the community. Condolences to their family and friends.

thesims1depot 27th Jan 2024 6:43 PM

Wow...I had heard the news about CmarNYC this past week, but not of others mentioned here. My condolescences, and yes, 26 is way too young.

gina25 27th Jan 2024 7:15 PM

This is sad news indeed. My sympathy goes out to the family members of these wonderful people. While these Simmers may be gone, they are certainly not forgotten! Their kind works and generosity will continue to live on.

RIP to CMAR (who I've had the pleasure to ask questions and get help from numerous times in the Sims 3 days), twoftmama who also used to help me a lot. My condolences to their families. Very sad news indeed!!!

thesammy58 28th Jan 2024 11:45 PM

Oh, this makes my heart so heavy every time I see these posts. It's a reminder of how fleeting life is. I remember using many of Cmar's mods years and years ago with Sims 3 as just a young kid and just recently her invaluable tools for Sims 4. May they rest in peace. They were and are much loved. ❤

smclin 30th Jan 2024 10:34 AM

I am so sorry to hear this! Lots of love and condolences to the family and friends.

Esmeralda 1st Feb 2024 11:46 AM

Oh no. I've only just seen this and am so shocked about Cmar, as we were friendly and had corresponded often over many years but I'd been out of touch due to having a big move to a different part of the country last autumn which took months to complete, and had intended to get back in contact but I see she passed during that time. Am so totally gutted to hear this terrible news. My sincerest condolences to her family and loved ones.

Also so sad about rebecah, from whom I had many wonderful mods in my Sims 2 game back in the day. And upthread it was mentioned that twoftmama and Victor Andrade had passed too? Man, this truly is a black and bleak time for the Sims world. May they all rest in peace.

Don't know about Mr. Andrade, but all three of the others have been involved in the Sims modding community since at least TS3. I had content from all three of them in my game when I still played TS3 . Wouldn't surprise me to find their names attached to content for TS2 as well.

Their further contributions will be missed.

Victor_tor 3rd Feb 2024 8:06 AM

I used tools developed by Cmar as many times as I used things created by Mootilda. For me she always was something like Moo number two.
Rebecah was a talented creator. We have never talked to each other but I used her creation once back in a time.

Any kind words now are too late to say in person. I have no words to describe. Bye, girls. Hope you will meet each other. And hope you will meet Mootilda, Leefish and Scumbumbo there beyond the heaven gates.

Regards Vic

Why do the best people leave so early? Two wonderful creators.
I'm truly sorry.

Sad news - it's heart warming to see so many messages from grateful simmers on those obit pages though. I hope the families took comfort from all those messages from simmers from all over the world and realised how their loved ones were important to a lot of people.

letrax 11th Feb 2024 10:19 AM

I too am sad to hear this news. CmarNYC in particular has long been one of my favourite contributors, and one that I have actually brought up in discussions in real life, as an example of brilliant female modders and programmers.
Being a programmer myself, I often try to explain to prejudiced outsiders that women are just as good programmers as men (and in my personal opinion quite often actually better), and when I learned about the Sims 3 modding community in the early 2010s I was very pleased to discover that the talented CmarNYC, a person who obviously understood the innards of the game really well, was actually a woman. I have seen many others since then of course, but she was the first one I noticed. It was a name that you learned to associate with quality. Whenever she released a new mod, a new slider, or a new utility, you knew that it would be worth checking out.

GnatGoSplat 12th Feb 2024 1:03 AM

I have too many hobbies so I come and go as the wind blows, sometimes taking years off from Sims, so I'm just now learning this incredibly sad news. As I read this thread and learn more about these losses and their stories, it brought tears to my eyes. Health problems are the worst. Not just physically, but mentally. It made me feel nauseas to think what they've had to go through.

CmarNYC was a giant in the modding community. Her mods, tutorials, knowledge, and assistance to others were hugely impactful on helping others become modders themselves. I don't remember if she's helped me out personally in the past, but I know for fact I've learned much from her. A lot of her mods and tools still find permanent residence on my machine. I'd always known she was a genius, but what shocked me was the fact she was about my mom's age. Her and rebecah both. It kind of blows my mind because I'm used to being tech support for people of my parents' generation, most of whom don't even know how to turn on the computer or connect to a Wifi network.

I hadn't heard about TFM, Leefish, or Victor. Rebecah, TFM, and Leefish I definitely remember as being MTS regulars from back when I was a regular. I remembered right away Leefish was the mod from back then with the colorful fish avatar. I hadn't seen Victor around, but knew him by reputation (I think his Direct Control mod had been mentioned in gaming article on an online publication once). I learned about Scumbumbo a few months ago when I came back to Simming and went looking for updates to his mods, and I'd known about Mootilda for a few years. They were MTS regulars back when I was a regular as well. They will all be greatly missed.

I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of these outstanding artists. I've downloaded a great deal of CmarNYC, rebecah, and twoftmama's work. I have to admit I didn't know 3 of these people, but it's sad news.

I'm so sad about Rebecah! I love her horses, it meant a lot to me to have them for Sims 2 as a real life horse owner and horse lover. I'm sure I have more of her things in my game too, I remember a ride on ladybird for toddlers in particular, she was so skilled with mods etc. And she was always so kind and patient when replying to people online.

I didn't know Leefish personally, but used their website and content, they seemed nice.

Mootilda was lovely, she helped me on here a few times, I remember her passing, it was such a sad time for MTS.

dolluettes_honey 24th Mar 2024 11:46 PM

My condolences to the friends and families of these lovely souls. Although, I knew none of them personally but partook in a conversation in Leefish's discussion form on their page and had the honor to have them assist and guide me on how to fix difficult technical or graphical errors involved in the sims 2. The heartbreaking news to hear that we the Sims community have lost some wonderful people will always be devasting.

CmarNYC and other creators we've lost creations have only enhanced the sims community, their hard work and dedication will not be forgotten. Can't thank each of them enough for all the beautiful creations and the time and hours that went into their creations.

May they all rest in peace

Player 2 26th Mar 2024 5:03 PM

This is sad to hear and I hope that their friends and family are finding comfort and solace through their time of loss. At least their contributions to the community will continue to live on in our hearts and our games.

I remember downloading some of Beck's objects way back, especially the child-focused objects and was very surprised at the quality behind them. It's always a sad time to lose such creative and talented people in the simming community 😢

Deeney 1st Apr 2024 1:53 PM

Sadly missed she brought a lot of joy to the Sims 1 game. A fantastic contributor.

I remember using all of these mods in Sims 1. They brought a new level to the game that was sadly missing.

I don't know what made me wander over to this thread so long after I learned the news about CmarNYC, but this thread is filled with sad news of modders and creators who have had such huge impact on the community.

I'm glad to know. They leave impressive legacies -- real life legacies -- in the Sims community.

BiscuitButt 3rd Apr 2024 4:47 AM

I am completely devastated to hear about the passing of Cmar and Rebecah, two incredibly talented and dedicated Sims modders who have left an indelible mark on the Sims community. Their creative contributions have enriched our virtual worlds in ways that are immeasurable, and their innovation and passion for the game will be forever remembered.

It is truly heartbreaking to think that we will no longer have the pleasure of experiencing their exceptional mods and creations. The Sims community has lost two shining stars, but their legacies will continue to shine brightly for as long as simmers are still simming.

To Cmar and Rebecah, thank you for all that you have given to us. Your talent, kindness, and generosity have touched the hearts of countless individuals, and your impact will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, knowing that your legacy will continue to inspire and bring joy to simmers around the world. You will be greatly missed.

I remember Cmar. It's been a long, long time since I've posted on MTS public boards. I came here to check for updates to mods for sims 4 and I saw this post in the top right corner.

Prayers, positive vibes and warm wishes for all who are grieving the loss of these two amazing individuals.

Oh my, I have been away from the Sims community a fair bit this year (just busy with life and work) and have come looking for some Mod updates. All of these wonderful creators have left a huge hole in the Sims modding community.
May they all rest in peace knowing their contributions to this community will never be forgotten and they were cherished by us all.

So sorry to see such wonderful creators pass away. They will be missed greatly. I always loved Rebecah's mods.

I can't say I've commented here before but I'm heartbroken to learn about this. They've both contributed such great mods to our community and my heart goes out for all of their loved ones.

Wow - I just learned this but I've used Rebecah's stuff for over a decade. So talented. Praying for her loved ones.

It is so awful to hear! Such a loss for the families and close ones, and the Sims community!

I know there are deceased tags on here, but I feel like there should be a section or thread devoted to their memory, such sad announcements and preserving their legacy in the sims community, does that sound weird? It's so often it takes a while to hear about such sad passings.
