Default Spinning Sims - fixed
Just a Word to the Wise and people like me:

Turned on my Game and the Sims were Spinning like a Top in one spot. After boolprop they made 1/4 turn and flashed up Error.
Looked it up and other people have had this.

I had just made some major changes in my game, so I thought I made a Real Dog's Breakfast.

I took out my changes, no help. For the first time I had to do the 50/50 download cleaning.
I checked Last what I should have looked at First. I hadn't PackCleanInstaller my Bodyshop Clothes in a while, LOTS of Incomplete Projects.

Simple thing. I Hope this Helps somebody.

Incomplete projects don't cause spinning sims (game dosen't read them, or they're just default replacements, repo'd files, or other CAS-related items with missing resources for various reasons). Errors are very unlikely to be caused by regular CAS items (there's one known CAS-related thing that causes errors, but under spesific circumstances, and rarely the continuous errors).

Spinning sims are recurring, invisible errors (visible if you turn on the boolprop cheat). It's usually caused by conflicting or outdated mods.

Post the error log. Clean Installer labels a lot of stuff as incomplete bodyshop projects for some reason, it's just wrong about a lot of stuff and shouldn't be used for any purpose other than installing Sims2packs.

The spinning Sims were visible, silly looking. After I tried 'boolprop testingcheatsenabled true' they stopped at 1/4 to 1/2 turn long enough for an Error message.
All's I know is I pulled out all my downloads and as I put them back in, it never showed up again.

P.S. CleanInstaller works great for finding Duplicate items and sorting mesh/mod/object/clothing etc.

No, it really isn't. It's often wrong about what packages actually are. If you took out your mods and the problem stopped, it just means you took out the mod that was causing the problem.

It has limited use in finding problem CC/mods and sorting CC, but there are much better options.

The scanner option in SimPE finds duplicates files and duplicate GUIDs, and several of Pick'n'mix's tools can find problem CC/mods(HCDU+, "What caused this" for error logs), and help sort buy + CAS items (Object Relocator + Outfit Organiser).

.Clean Installer is best used for installing lots/sims, and for sorting through the CC that comes with those, to see if you want to keep it or not, plus repackaging lots if need be.

I've used Clean Installer to find duplicates.

It can be used, but it doesn't mean it's the best tool for the job.

PickCleanInstaller can be wrong, but the % is so low, it's easy to work around.
It is also Excellent for editing 'recolors', Wall Hangings a good example.

WhatCausedThis has worked, not often enough, 1st step.

Just downloaded ObjectRelocator and HcduPlus.

ObjectRelocator looks more for Describing things more than Finding where installed, not much use to me.

HcduPlus seems slow and clumsy but will give it a try.

Still afraid of SimPE.

I try to follow this Rule: Put all new downloads in a "Quarantine' for a while before mixing in with other Folders.

Clean Installer is wrong about 40% of the time, in my experience.

None of these tools except for HCDU is actually even for identifying things that might be a problem.

So, if Clean Installer has two files that have the pink duplicate colour then 40% of the time they aren't actually duplicates?

Object Relocator and Outfit Organiser are more for organizing and recategorizing, plus some editing (kind of SimPE-light), but can be quite useful if you're tired of stuff having stuff stuck in the wrong places in your downloads. They're easier to use than SimPE, and they've got most of the options for recategorizing.

"What caused this?" can be helpful with error logs (but error logs are generally not the easiest to make sense of, so it's still a bit limited).

HCDU finds mod conflicts and duplicates (among other things). SimPE has a scanner that finds duplicates and GUID conflicts (likely can check for a few other thigs too). It's a bit slow, though.

CI mostly just finds duplicates and marks modded/etc. items with colors (but is not always "right" about it, and tends to mark things wrong, sometimes not marking them correctly at all). It does have very limited use in finding problem content. It doesn't let you edit textures or anything that, it just lets you install or repack lots/sims and other Sims2pack files, look at/scan files in the Downloads folder, and possibly delete CC from a folder (but I'd delete directly from the folder instead).
Me? Sarcastic? Never.

Clean Installer doesn't edit anything. All it does is install lot, cc, or all into the teleport folder.

By Editing I meant just send what you don't want to a 'Temporary' folder and deal with it later. No, it doesn't find errors.
For duplicates I alphabetize the MD5 collum to check numbers.
