He may look like a big brute, but the Dogue de Bordeaux is an even-tempered guardian. The breed originates in France (Dogue de Bordeaux means Mastiff of Bordeaux) and was used in guarding both livestock and property and bullbaiting. It is stubborn and can be difficult to train, but is extremely protective and loyal. The movie Turner & Hooch stars Tom Hanks and a large, slobbery Dogue de Bordeaux, which is almost invariably misidentified as being a Bloodhound.

Create-a-Pet does not allow for as many wrinkles as I would've liked, but I still feel that this is a good "Simified" version of the Dogue.
