Maybe it’s that hand-me-down sedan you inherited from an older relative, looking a little too tired in the morning light. Maybe it’s a fresh start in a new town, where turning a rust bucket into a calm sage green feels like the first step toward settling in. Maybe it’s that classic post-breakup urge to reinvent everything, starting with the car parked outside. Or maybe it’s just a slow morning with a warm mug of coffee, soft music on the radio, and the urge to do something creative with your hands.

After all, our cars take such good care of us, and they deserve a little love in return. Pick a fresh new shade, spend a peaceful afternoon giving it a second life, and fall in love with your faithful ride all over again.


Features:

- Click your car and pick "Paint..." to choose from 10 preset colors, or customize it your own way with Create a Style. If you cancel the interaction midway through, you get every simoleon back.
- A paint job takes 40 Sim minutes by default, but Handiness and Painting both help (whichever is higher). The better their skill, the quicker it goes, down to half the time at level 10.
- Certain Sims genuinely enjoy the work: Vehicle Enthusiast, Artistic, Avant Garde, and Handy Sims paint 15% faster on top of any skill bonus, and their Fun rises while they're at it.
- A paint job costs §250 by default, and the exact price for that Sim is shown right in the pie menu. Frugal, Handy, Mooch, Born Salesman/Saleswoman, Artistic, and Vehicle Enthusiast Sims each knock 16% off, and so do the Haggler and Suave Seller lifetime rewards. The discounts stack, and reaching level 10 in Handiness or Painting makes it completely free!

Compatibility:

- It's a lightweight script mod. It doesn't override any core game files or write to your save file, so it's 100% safe to add or remove anytime. The new colour persists just like any standard Buy Mode recolour.

XML Tuning (via s3pe):

- kPaintDurationMinutes: How long (in Sim minutes) a paint job takes. Default: 40.
- kRouteMinRadius: The minimum distance a Sim stands from the car to paint. Default: 0.3 (not recommended to change).
- kRouteMaxRadius: The maximum distance a Sim stands from the car to paint. Default: 1.6 (not recommended to change).
- kSkillMaxReduction: The maximum time reduction at level 10 Handiness or Painting (0.5 cuts the time in half). Range: 0 to 0.95 (set to 0 to disable the skill bonus). Default: 0.5.
- kPaintCost: The base cost to paint a car before any trait or reward discounts. Default: 250.

Requirements:

- Roaring Heights (The Sims 3 Store): The mod uses the painting animation from the Classically Cool Fixer-Upper Car, so you'll need this world installed.

Install:

- Just drop CarPaint.package into your Mods/Packages folder. Done!
