Ella Fitzgerald The First Lady of Jazz

Ella Fitzgerald known as the First Lady of Jazz and the First Lady of Song, was born in 1917 in Virginia. She began her singing career at the age of sixteen when she joined the Chick Webb Orchestra. She was a jazz vocalist famous for scat singing. Scat is a type of singing without lyrics, where the voice is more like a musical instrument. Scat like much of jazz was generally improvised by the artist. Ella Fitzgerald’s magnificent vocal skills earned her 13 Grammy Awards, more than any Jazz performer. She made over 200 albums during her career.

Among her close friends were Louis Armstrong with whom she performed, Julie London and Marilyn Monroe. Recordings of her beautiful voice continue to be coveted. As recently as 2011, several of her recordings were included in the video game L.A. Noire.

Ella Fitzgerald Sim is bursting with natural talent. She is a musician, a dancer, and lover of all music and when she happens to be anywhere near a microphone she will show off her comedic skills.
