Strangertown (PSP Strangetown)

Did Strangetown just get…stranger? There’s only one way to find out for sure: uncover secrets and avoid a nervous breakdown as you explore Strangertown, my take on a Sims 2 PC/Sims 2 PSP crossover hood!

This is Strangertown's shining debut on Mod The Sims. There are no new changes since its last update in October 2021, this is simply a re-upload to ensure players can keep enjoying Strangertown for many more years to come.

General Hood Info:

Strangertown is a custom hood that combines The Sims 2 PC base game Strangetown and The Sims 2: PSP version Strangetown. It is:

fully decorated!
populated with playable sims from the PSP game!
includes functional lots from the PSP game!
features a custom map/layout!
entirely CC FREE!

Important: Strangertown was made with Ultimate Collection and requires all Stuff/Expansion Packs. It is not compatible with Super Collection for Mac.

Story Clarification: **minor spoilers warning!!**

Strangertown aligns with The Sims 2: PSP game story. In order to keep PC and PSP characters succinct, Strangertown begins at the same time as the start of base game Strangetown. Relationships have been adjusted so that you can play both sides simultaneously without story conflict.

Example 1: Dennis Philips is alive and happily married to Hazel Dente.
Example 2: Nervous Subject and Annie Howell have not met yet.

This way, players can choose for themselves to either follow the PSP storyline or do their own thing.

Example 1: Player can drown Dennis and make Hazel pursue Roland Calonzo.
Example 2: Nervous and Annie never become romantically involved.

I hope this creates a best of both worlds so you can play however you want!

Known Issues:

(1) The placement of Division 47 has flying UFO debris on the lot. This is a visual annoyance that does no harm to your game, but if it bugs you it can be resolved by moving either the crashed UFO hood deco or Division 47 lot.

Please Also Note:

You will need a camera mod to access some of the custom map and lots, such as GunMod’s Camera Mod on MTS.

There are two big relationship changes that goes against canon: (1) Even though Pita Florica and Gimi Branko are canonically identified as cousins, I made them siblings instead. (2) Sinjin Balani knows Lazlo Curious, and he can “claim” they are cousins (as per PSP dialogue), but their family tree will not reflect this as true.

You will need to manually move sims into Hoot’s wine cellar and Mambo’s attic using MoveObjects On cheat.

Strangertown as a MAIN HOOD: Put folder SPSP into: My Documents > The Sims 2 > Neighborhoods.

Strangertown as a SUBHOOD:

Wait! There are TWO DIFFERENT SUB VERSIONS: one with Bella Goth, and one without. This was designed for players who want to connect Pleasantview with Strangertown and not have two Bellas running around.

> Ultimate Collection users: Put folder PSBG/PSNB into: Program Files (x86) > Electronic Arts > The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection > Best of Business > EP3 > TSData > Res > NeighborhoodTemplate

> Non-Ultimate Collection users: Put folder PSBG/PSNB into: Program Files (x86) > The Sims 2 > The Sims 2 Open For Business > TSData > Res > NeighborhoodTemplate

Note 1: Since the subhoods have different IDs they won’t conflict so you can have both Bella and No-Bella versions in your files if you want!

Note 2: These hoods are heavy with data so when you first create the subhood it might take an extra minute to load.

Note 3: When you add a subhood with sims, the Townies have their names randomized. This is normal! You have to manually change the names back using a mod like SimBlender or SimPE.
