This is a tuning mod that turns off autonomy for a range of activities that are annoying in historical gameplay scenarios.

UPDATE (27/06/26)

I've made two new versions, one for Medieval gameplay and one for Victorian.

The main difference between the two versions is how musical instruments are handled. In the Medieval version, there is no autonomous guitar, keyboard, bass, or drums (i.e. learn, jam, perform, play, and play for tips can only be user-directed).

In the Victorian version, there's no autonomous learn instrument, and sims must have level 3 skill to be able to jam, perform, play or play for tips. And NPCs can't autonomously use instruments on community lots. So only the Sims you choose should be able to play for guests at the society ball

The Medieval version also stops canes and umbrellas from being auto-generated. I recommend Alverdine's Default Umbrellas & Parasols for Victorian games.

Don't know if it's just a quirk of my game, but I found that after a few in-game weeks, Sims were somehow using laptops from inventory so I've turned off autonomy for laptops completely and that seems to have fixed it. I've also included no autonomous cast love spell and no autonomous fairy tricks in both versions – if anyone wants a version without these, let me know.

Medieval Gameplay Settings
  • No autonomous answer phone
  • No autonomous smart phone browsing, texting, streaming.
  • No autonomous selfies.
  • No autonomous use laptop.
  • No autonomous practice school cheer.
  • No autonomous build igloo.
  • No autonomous kids go for joyride or be king or queen for a day.
  • No autonomous cast love spell.
  • No autonomous fairy tricks.
  • No auto-generate canes.
  • No auto-generate umbrellas or parasols.
  • No autonomous guitar, keyboard, drums or bass (including learn, perform, jam, play, play for tips).

Victorian Gameplay Settings
  • No autonomous answer phone
  • No autonomous smart phone browsing, texting, streaming.
  • No autonomous selfies.
  • No autonomous use laptop.
  • No autonomous practice school cheer.
  • No autonomous build igloo.
  • No autonomous kids go for joyride or be king or queen for a day.
  • No autonomous cast love spell.
  • No autonomous fairy tricks.
  • No autonomous learn guitar, keyboard, drums or bass.
  • Skill level 3 in guitar, keyboard, drums or bass required to jam, perform, play or play the instrument for tips.
  • No autonomous guitar, keyboard, drums or bass for greeted and non-greeted sims on community lots.
