Magical Academy - simple university overhaul

Hi, I created this mod that changes names and adjusts degrees, so you could roleplay attending magical academy! The mod is finally well tested and updated, so you shouldnt bump into rogue strings or unexpected behaviors. However, I will love any feedback, so I can improve it in future iterations.

UPDATE: 15th of August 2026
  • localization for Spanish was added, thanks to user ECM6215A
  • several strings were fixed: mostly typos and rogue strings
  • a few objects and buildings were renamed and their text adjusted to help with magical immersion
How to install:
  • after downloading, unzip the folder, there is only one .package file inside
  • place it in your …/mods/packages folder
  • Before opening game delete all caches
Compatibility:
  • Not compatible with any mod that tweaks or rewrites how skills and traits are treated when applying and studying uni
Note: this mod is overriding existing behavior and text, it might override your existing degrees if you test it in a save where sims already have degrees. Keep this in mind when testing. Should it rewrite something you don’t want to, removing the mod should fix it. Also, I have build it for english localization, so if your game is not set in english, it might not work for you. If it doesnt, please let me know about it and I may fix it in future iteration.

How the mod works:
  • essentially this mod sits on top of usual game behavior, thus overriding it
  • university functions as usual. No change to behavior of enrollment, uni world or class activities (for now... i am open to suggestions for this one)
  • Degrees are renamed along with any text that references them
  • Tweaks were applied to traits and skills for each degree
  • Degrees are assigned different careers

What is tested so far:
  • Strings are renamed, no behavior showed glitches
  • what works: taking aptitude tests, enrollment screen, wants related to degrees, skills and traits adding up to correct degrees, studying and finishing degree, bonuses applied towards correct occupations, changes to existing sims with degrees
