I love how fun The Sims 2 is and how it has this more chaotic and cartoonish side, of course. But personally, I’ve never really liked the Therapist! I understand that he adds a bit of lightheartedness to aspiration failure, but I find it a little unnecessary and honestly kind of annoying to see my Sims behave so strangely when they become extremely unhappy with how their lives are going. I feel like The Sims 2 already has a naturally lighthearted tone, without necessarily needing my Sims to start seeing things when their aspiration gets too low.

I had wanted a mod like this for a very long time, but I couldn’t find one anywhere, so I eventually decided to make it myself!

What does this mod do?

1 - It completely removes the Therapist’s interaction with your Sim when they enter aspiration failure.
In other words, if you fail to fulfill your Sim’s wants, or something terrible happens in their life and their aspiration bar reaches rock bottom, the Therapist will not show up.

2 - Since the Therapist doesn’t appear, your Sim won’t receive the little aspiration boost he normally provides.
You know, the one that happens after your Sim is asked to imitate a monkey or a chicken by the therapist? That boost is gone! Their aspiration bar will simply stay 100% at the bottom, completely red and miserable. The only way to bring it back up is by actually fulfilling your Sim’s wants.

What doesn’t it do?

It does NOT remove the aspiration failure animations, such as Family Sims rocking bags of potatoes or Romance Sims dancing with a broomstick. If you really don't want your sims to have any low aspiration hallucinations, I highly recommend Simlogical’s “Stoicism Patch”, which does exactly that!

With this mod installed alongside mine, your Sims won’t have those over-the-top visual reactions when their aspiration bar gets too low at all.

My mod also does NOT remove the crying animations associated with low aspiration. Your Sims will still cry because their aspiration level is in the red! I didn’t see a reason to remove that, since I don’t want Sims to be happy while they’re in aspiration failure, I just don’t want them to start seeing things.

And obviously, it does NOT remove the Therapist NPC from your game or neighborhood! That could cause some pretty serious problems, right? My mod only changes the aspiration failure interaction. That’s it!

How do I install it?

Simply place the file in your Downloads folder and taa-daa! No more over-the-top aspiration failure antics!

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the mod, and I hope you have lots of sad Sims without all the extra visual craziness that comes with aspiration failure! Haha.
