I had a rash of burglaries in my 'hood after not seeing any for years (I was beginning to think I had accidentally installed a mod to prevent them).
Sims find this event traumatic and I found their constant queue-stomping to cry about the break-in- alternating with more queue-stomping to fume furious about the burglar- to be tiresome.
Combine that with the fact that furiousness can lead to increased relationships (fixed by Cyjon) and I had had quite enough.
Burglars have now been added to the list of NPCs that my Sims never need to meet.
