CHANGES

2026-02-12:
CHANGE LOG

REDOWNLOAD EVERYTHING!
I split each folder as it's own zip as Mod The Sims has a 256mb limit and my update has exceeded it by 2 mbs ;(

The latest TS4 update changed all region tuning files for the R&L Decree system, so I rebuilt every related tuning file to match.

Additions
  • CORE package updates: Merged several small DLC fixes into the CORE package (e.g., the EP04 tree fix).
  • Removed changes: Removed my Get Together water and City Living edits because I’ll be addressing those issues with a different approach. Sorry!

World Updates
Tomarang
  • Now partially Seasons-compatible.
  • Added real wind animations for most foliage. I’d like to do this for more worlds—Maxis had an odd period (Snowy Escape → Businesses & Hobbies) where tree model quality was downgraded with a simpler shader, and it still hurts environment visuals.
  • Restored vibrant lighting (the style used since early TS4). Tomarang was advertised with this lighting, but the shipped version felt washed out.

Sylvan Glade
  • Updated the world file to fix the backdrop “hogging” right above the horizon that sits in your camera space.

Evergreen Harbor
  • Fixed several assets casting shadows where they shouldn’t.
  • Note: some fixes only work on DX9 (which I personally prefer—DX11 has run poorly for me even on strong rigs).

Base Game Foliage Fixes + Optional Assets
  • Fixed many BG grass models that were missing proper double-sided blades and improved their shadow rendering.

New Optional Assets packages (in the main Assets folder):
  • Grass foliage texture override to better match terrain (more refined look).
  • Cloud/2D backdrop overrides separated for better compatibility with other mods.
  • Fixed a texture override that made trees go brown/muddy too early (before leaf-drop). Trees should now look brighter without looking unnatural.
  • Growing Together treehouse (optional): Seasonal changing is restored, but the shader doesn’t support skinning (model deformation for animations), so Sims won’t “open” the curtain properly and may clip through it.
  • Separated Matte (2D backdrop) assets to reduce conflicts with other mods that alter them.

NEW Optional Tuning Files
  • Light Snow behavior: Restores the melting-state timing so Light Snow won’t enter the melting state until the custom layer is uncovered. In larger worlds, this often looks better because texture resolution stays consistent as terrain size increases.
  • Puddles + freezing tweaks: Increases puddle evaporation time (without keeping the world wet forever) and slightly speeds up freezing. This helps with the game unloading the frozen “atmosphere” after travel if temperatures are only slightly warmer.

World Overrides (Major)
  • Fully updated. Added basic seasonal overlays to worlds missing seasonal layers to prevent unintended snow buildup.
  • Example: Oasis Springs will no longer accumulate snow with harsh lot outlines.
  • Worked with NerdyDoll to update every swimmable world file to include my Seasons fixes. If you use her world files, use hers instead of mine (including Sunblind variants).

Final Note
That’s it for now. I’ve been delaying updates because burnout has been hitting hard. Keeping up with constant patches, mod compatibility, and not releasing half-finished work is a lot. Sorry for the wait.

ABOUT
Three folders. World file overrides, tuning files that go to your mods folder, and the assets folder that also goes to the mod folder.
This master post aims to fix seasons compatibility-lacking assets. How many times do you look at Ravenwood and think wow this eternal fall really doesn't hold up with just 6 orange trees in one of the three entire districts, so would've been nicer if it had the full 4 seasons... Welp! Here's a solution to that.

The aim isn't for realism, it's for consistency and to bring back that Sims 3/Sims 2 customization era where you could have winter in tropical worlds just because it's fun.

This isn't just seasonal fixes, there's also fixes for missing shell shadows in Ciudad Enamorada, the misplaced bridge in Ravenwood, dig spots having no snow, dirt piles having no snow, various water shader fixes to be more reflective/compatible with ice formation. It's a lot of work done, although not complete, but in a state where it's usable without noticing issues.

Current Progress:
Gibbi Point (Almost done)
Innisgreen (Fully done)
Nordhaven (Done, but will be getting updates for foliage animations)
Ravenwood (Basically complete besides one or two 2D backgrounds)
Ciudad Enamorada (Done, but will be getting updates for foliage animations)
Tomarang (Trees update to move with wind, but needs more overriding)
Chestnut Ridge (Removes that ugly rainbow/fog in that canyon district/updates water shaders)
San Sequoia (Complete, except for some 2D backgrounds)
Copperdale (Overrides assets as the texturing is awful there for winter)
Evergreen Harbor (Fixes ice not forming on water, some water shader fixes, fixes that invisible T junction of the yellow bridges)
Brindleton Bay (A tree fix)
BG (various assets updated, Oasis Springs now accumulates snow properly)

Shouldn't require updates other than for the Tuning folder files, which had needed updating once for Life & Death.

INSTALLATION
If you want to simply get the fixes, only install Assets folder packages. It will not change weather cycles/seasonality. Simply fixes assets and textures.

If you want worlds to have seasons enabled fully, pick and choose which ones you want by selecting the Tuning folder packages as well as the corresponding world file overrides. If you use mods that edit seasons/weather code, skip my Tuning folder and only get the world files.

COMPATIBILITY
Not compatible with any lighting overrides for worlds, as world files contain more than just lighting settings, sadly :/
HOWEVER! I've reached out to modder NerdyDoll to incorporate my fixes with her world file edits, including the Sunblind lighting variants. Keep an eye out for her mod updates to drop as I'm not sure when they'll be released.

Tuning CAN be replaced with other mods that edit weather itself (like the seasons weather overhaul mods)
