Background
I have been using air conditioners for as long as I have known Simlogical. Back in 2024, I came upon Jacky93's 4t2 conversions of ATS air conditioners, so I decided it was about time to improve them and learn more about coding. I ended up standardizing them, that they would be better off made as Semi-Globals. Well, why not fully make them Semi-Globals before finally releasing, after over a year of being on the shelf?

The revised air conditioners work like the original - they regulate temperature of Sims in the room. But now, they all have limited range, have proper placement, maintain Hygiene instead of Comfort (trust me, I'm a Southeast Asian), and have selectable modes with different magnitudes of cooling (or heating) and target temperature. Each model also comes with its own quality and catalog description.

Being Semi-Globals-based should help with creating new air conditioners.


Summary
  • Each model has an appropriate placement - wall unit must be placed on the wall; floor or ceiling unit can be placed anywhere inside.
  • Air conditioner regulates the body temperature of Sims at the same room and floor.
  • Air conditioner also regulates Hygiene and keeps it over half the bar.
  • Air conditioner also has limited coverage; Sims at the 2nd radius are regulated at a slower rate, and those beyond are not affected at all.
  • Air conditioner regulate Sims towards a set range of temperature.
  • Mode can be changed individually, on units in a room, or on all units in the lot.
  • 3 modes are available by default - normal, heat and turbo.
  • Turbo mode has enhanced cooling capability.
  • Heat mode regulates Bladder instead of Hygiene.
  • Simlogical's ceiling model automatically sets mode instead, depending on the season.
  • Sims can perform the "Freshen Self" interaction to slightly regain Energy.
  • "Freshen Self" lasts longer the bigger the difference between body and target temperature is - a heated up Sim can regain more Energy at a unit on the turbo mode.
  • Sims can only "Freshen Self" if their Energy is below half the bar.
  • Sims cannot "Freshen Self" on a unit that has been recently purchased or switched mode - they need a delay of 30-90 minutes before they can do so, so buy multiple units if you want to cheese!

Air conditioners work stackingly and are best placed close to the center of a room. They all fulfill the "Buy a Ceiling Fan" Want.

Issues
Object icons have not been reworked - most icons show the models from poor perspectives.

Any air conditioners placed before this mod may have to be replaced to function properly.
