Welcome to Part 7 of the Brandy Broke Story.
"Previously"
Brandy and Dustin had admitted to each other that they both had
been seeing the ghost of Skip.
While Brandy went to go and take a nice warm bath, Dustin
sat down with the newspaper and found a very strange add.
He looked up the phone number and called it .
After the third ring a male voice answers the phone, he has a
accent that Dustin cannot immediately place, but he lets his
brain settle on a New Yorkish type tough guy accent.
"Hello?!" He heard the other voice speaking to him. He also heard
a sound that reminded him of fingers snapping. They sounded sharp
and crisp in his ear and it quickly got Dustin's attention. Then his
mind burst into action.
"Who is this?" he demanded. "And where is my father?"
"Whoa, slow down kid, you called me remember?"

"My name for now is Mr. Grinch. I take it this is Dustin.
You sound just like your dad."
"Mr.Grinch, how do you know my dad?" Dustin asked carefully.
Mr. Grinch gave a light hearted chuckle. "Dustin I am a old
friend of your fathers. If you have been seeing visions of him and
found the add in the newspaper, that can only mean one thing
and dat is that yer dad is missing."
"Am I correct?" Mr.Grinch asked Dustin after a long silence.
"Yes, that is true, agreed Dustin. "Now can you please tell me
where he is?'
"Well, if you are calling this number than that information is
classified, but he has left you a message."
"Whats the message?" Dustin said eagerly into the phone.
"I can't tell you kid, because I don't know it."
"Then what can you tell me!" Dustin hissed at Mr.Grinch out of frustration.

"Dustin, take your mother and go to the address in the
paper during the time indicated. When you get there sit down
and wait. Someone will show up," said Mr.Grinch.
"But !" Dustin interrupted in protest, Where is my dad?
My mother needs him, his family needs him. She is going to
have a baby soon!" Dustin tried to explain.
"Kid, I understand this probably really strange to you.
But you must keep a open mind and do what I told you. Believe me
your whole perception of the world is about to change drastically."
"Can you tell me anything else?" Dustin picked Mr.Grinch's brain
for more information.
Dustin heard Mr.Grinch take a deep breath and sigh. Then he said.
"Your dad is a "Hero" Dustin. He did not abandon
you and your family. Good Luck."
"CLICK"
Dustin hung up the phone as his mind spun into action. He had
to tell mom as soon as possible but he needed her calm and sitting
down, her pregnancy was high risk and the stress had to be minimum.
Just then he heard Beau wake up and start to cry in his crib to be let out.

While he was getting Beau dressed he called out to
Brandy, who was still in the bathtub.
"Hey mom?"
"Yeah?" Brandy hollered back.
"Beau is up now and I am going to make breakfast, what do
you want?" Dustin stood waiting with a half grin on his face because
he knew what she was going to say.
"Hmmm,,, that's a hard one Brandy teased, Hey, I know how about
some Peanutbutter Pancakes?"
"Could there be any other choice?" Dustin teased her.
"Not for a pregnant woman with cravings." Brandy teased back.
"Well Beau, I guess it is pancakes for breakfast."
"Pancakes," Beau said quickly as he gave a little jump on his brothers hip.

After a vigorous breakfast of peanut butter pancakes
with Mrs.Butteries Maple syrup. Dustin began to tell his mom
about the conversation he had on the phone with Mr.Grinch.
She listened very calmly and had a happy look on her face.

Brandy heard every word that Dustin said, but she could
hardly contain the joy and hope that she felt as she dared
to think that SKIP might actually come home to them.

"Dustin that is GREAT news!" Your Dad might come home!" she shouted.

"Even better, this is Monday! We can go today , she said
excitedly. What time is it?
"10:15am," Dustin told her.
"Perfect,Dustin you will have to miss school today."
"No school today mom, teachers inservice thingy."
"Even more perfect, I will go and call the nanny and go
and change my clothes.
"And while you are changing I will call a cab," Dustin added
excitedly and he stood up to let Beau out of his high chair.
"Great, and since we are on a budget, please find out how much it
is going to cost, we might have to take the bus back home,"
Brandy reminded him of their financial situation.
"Will do mom." Dustin agreed.
