This is the awesome story that I'm helping Tasia move to our forum, so she can focus on promoting our site! Keep in mind we'll be moving these stories soon to Tasia's blog, after we make some adjustments. Thank you for your patience with this work in progress.
{Special thanks again to Cindalove who convinced me to save this story and did a great deal to help preserve it. It has been bounced around from site to site and without her help many chapters would be missing. I am very very grateful.}
The Brandy Broke Story, Part 20
December 2, 2011
Welcome back.
Brandy felt she was in another nightmare as she was whisked down a long corridoor to get to the Emergency Operating room. She vaguely remembers voices, and then fights to regain consciousness. Then blackness. Brandy was just out. She sees a sharp bright light and focuses on it. Brandy hears a loud "snap". She knows she wants to wake up. She listens to for the sound again. "snap"
This time Brandy wakes up.
It was the sound of a small baby crying, and a monitor of some kind going off loudly. Next, the sound of someone rushing into the room. Brandy still could not open her eyes, so she just lay and listened, letting the sound help to bring her around.
Brandy managed to turn her head towards the sound in the room, and slowly cracked open her eyes.
"Have we got a messy diaper, little one?" she heard a kind and gentle voice say, to the baby. Brandy watched quietly, as she fought to wake up from the pain killers that she was on. *Click!* she heard the sound of the crib sliding back into place, and that brought Brandy fully awake.
The nurse, tending to the baby, heard
Brandy stirring.
"Well, welcome back Brandy," said the nurse, in a very friendly voice.
"Oh!" Brandy cried, as she tried to move her legs.
"I'm Nurse Maggie. How are you feeling Brandy?"
"Sore," Brandy murmured, with a dry throat.
"Would you like some water?" Nurse Maggie asked.
"Yes, please." replied Brandy.
Nurse Maggie poured her some water into a clear plastic cup from a tan
plastic pitcher, sitting on the night stand. She helped Brandy sit up and
handed her the cup.
After Brandy took a good long drink, and settled back onto the hospital
bed, Nurse Maggie asked Brandy how her pain was, and then administered her next
dose of pain meds.
"Well, do you think you are ready to hold your baby?"
"Oh yes," Brandy said with tears in her eyes.
"He really is a very beautiful
baby," Nurse Maggy told Brandy, and gently handed over Brandy's newborn son.
The first time Brandy held her baby she felt a strong sense of warmth go
through her body. This feeling would be called love. Then she looked
into his tiny face and saw that he looked exactly like his father Skip.
"Welcome to the world little one, she said as she held her son in her
arms for the very first time. Skip Jr. looked right at her and smiled,
followed by a nice, long, newborn baby yawn, then he settled back to sleep
in his mothers arms.
Brandy remembers asking Nurse Maggie to take her son back to the crib.
The pain killers were kicking in, and she really wanted to go back to sleep.
Just before the nurse dimmed the lights for Brandy and the baby, she told Brandy her family said they would be back in the morning.
"What time is it?" Brandy asked as she yawned.
"1:30 am. Get some rest."
The next morning, Brandy woke up to another nurse tending to her newborn son, Skip Jr.
"Good morning Brandy," said the nurse.
"Good morning. How are you today?" Brandy answered cheerfully.
"Good, thank you. I am Nurse Gretchen. How are you feeling?"
"Hungry," Brandy said, as they both heard her stomach growl loudly.
Well then, let's get you some breakfast."
"How is my baby?" Brandy asked.
"Cute as a button," replied Nurse Gretchen.
"Your doctor is on his rounds and should be in to see you in the next hour or so. Would you like to hold your baby while I go and order your breakfast?"
"Yes, but first I think I need to get to the bathroom." Nurse Gretchen helped Brandy get out of bed and make it to the bathroom.
When she made her way back to her bed, she had the pleasant surprise to find Dustin waiting for her.
"Hi Mom." He gave her a cheerful kiss on the cheek. Nurse Gretchen helped her back to bed.
"Ok, so are you ready to hold your baby while I go and order your breakfast?"
Nurse Gretchen asked brightly.
"That sounds great ," replied Brandy.
"Here is your Mommy big guy. Take good care of her now," Nurse Gretchen told Skip Jr. and she handed him over to Brandy.
"He really is a beautiful baby."
"Thank you,"said Brandy.
Dustin decided it was his turn to hold the baby, and then there was knock at the door.
Dr. Banks entered her room.
"Good morning, Brandy, Dustin," Dr. Banks said cheerfully, while entering the room.
"You look like you are feeling better than last night," he said with a smile.
"Yes, thank you doctor. I am so glad that you were already here when the ambulance arrived."
To be continued...
{Oh man, I was just getting to my favorite part. But I am out of time. I will come back later and post the rest..smile..}
