...........WELCOME BACK....................
"So how long did it take to get the Queen pregnant? And how on earth
did you ever escape?" Brandy asked her father and mother, but mostly
her father. She could not even look at her mother at the moment.
Her mother Coral did not look to be in the greatest of moods. Brandy
could tell that it was a hard time for her mother during their imprisonment
with the "Gotta Boogy Tribe," and still a sore subject for Coral.
But what could be done about the past?
She would be sure and comfort her mother later with a warm cup
of tea. And a understanding daughters ear and shoulder to cry on.
So much had happened in Brandy's life in the last 9 months that
she could hardly keep up with the day let alone dwell on the past. There
just had been no time yet.
Brandy started to think about all of the strange things that had happened
lately. She started to get drawn into her own deep thoughts when she
heard her father
clear his throat loudly. More than likely to relieve
himself from Corals intense stare that got him squirming in his seat like
a fish out of water.
"Oh it was fortunate indeed how we escaped." Her fathers
voice burst in on her thoughts, bringing her back to reality
and drawing her back into the Jungle.
"During the day," Grandpa Herb continued his story. "Your mother and I were
forced to do work around the village. In that type of society, if you want to eat,
you have to work. You have to do your part. The women and your mother included
with them, often went to go and do the wash, gather herbs and or fire wood.
But for me, I was often sent with the men of the village to go and gather
oranges from the edge of the jungle.
"Wild Orange Trees" had the sweetest fruit you see, and eating
this fruit was considered the best for producing babies especially
healthy sons and beautiful daughters. It was the man's job to go
and gather this fruit and bring it back to his spouse to eat. I had
no chance for escape under the heavy guard of the Men from the Village.
Not only that Coral and I were also never allowed out of the Village together.
Lest we escape.Queen Hepsha was no fool, she knew that I would not
leave without my beautiful wife." Herb looked fondly at Coral and
received a
cold look in return.
"But anyway, as the weeks went on, the men of the village started to
trust me not to run away when we went to gather the wild fruit.
It was very dangerous to go and gather it. And one really had to be on
ones wits . Lots of Spiders ,Snakes, Jaguars and all kinds of lethal things
around to kill you."
Grandpa lulled everyone into his tale and the room became silent as he
spoke.
"One day when I had wandered off a distance, to a grove of Wild Oranges
that had just ripened. I spotted some lovely oranges as I walked to them
I thought to myself,
"How much longer must my life go on like this?
I am a slave by day and a sex slave by night! I shame my woman by being
forced to be with another woman and I cannot even fight back or find a
way out to save us. God when will you help us and get us out of this Hell Hole?"
I was just about to grab a very large juicy, ripe piece of fruit.
"When I heard a voice in very clear English say loudly
"Hey! Don't Touch that!"
I quickly pulled my hand back from the fruit I was about to pick and
looked around for who had spoken in English and could not see anyone.
I looked back to where I was about to pick some oranges."
"I noticed a huge snake that I almost grabbed. It was sitting right
next to the lovely fruit I was about to pick! The Red Snake is poisonous but,
is very docile, not aggressive as snakes go, unless they are grabbed by mistake.
Then you will definitely get bitten.
The bite would not be lethal but very painful and a guaranteed 4 day trip with high fever and hallucinations. Best not to get bit by that one."
I looked around to see who had warned me of my very possible mistake.
But still could not see anyone.
"Hello, who is there? " I called out gently, not wanting to alert the other
men from the village.
"Hello," I heard a soft voice answer. "I am here, I am Sheeta."
I looked around through the dense jungle growth and could not see anyone.
"Well, Sheeta, I can hear you but I don't see you. Where are you?"
She suddenly appeared out of the flowers and foliage.
"I am right here." said Sheeta innocently with a playful tone.
"And indeed there she was, a most exotic and beautiful
creature," said Grandpa with perhaps a little to much enthusiasm.
"Can you see me now, or do you need me to get closer?"
asked Sheeta with a friendly cat like
purr in her voice.
"That was a very large red snake you almost grabbed. I can't believe
that you did not see such a large snake right in front of you like that.
He was a very big snake," Sheeta seemed to be lecturing him.
"His bite would of been very bad for you." Sheeta told him seriously.
"Oh yes, Sheeta thank you very much for warning me. You probably
saved my life." said Grandpa gratefully.
"You must promise to be more careful next time," said Sheeta.
"Yes, of course , I promise Sheeta."
"Ok, good bye then," and Sheeta started to leave.
"No, please don't go Sheeta," Grandpa said quickly before she disappeared.
"Alright," said Sheeta she reappeared and sat down to talk with Grandpa
for a little while.
"What is your name?" asked Sheeta.
"I am Herb Davis," Grandpa answered.
"Why are you here in the Jungle with the wild things?" Sheeta asked
with great curiosity.
"My wife Coral and I are the unfortunate guests of Queen Hepsha
of the Gotta Boogy Tribe."
"That is not very good for you either, Queen Hepsha is evil and will sacrifice
you to the volcano god." warned Sheeta.
"Yes I know , we have not been able to get away though."
"You should make a better plan," Sheeta told him.
"Yes that is a good idea, do you have any good plans?"
" I could probably help you , but I am busy looking for a husband. I want to start a family.
I am looking for someone like me." Sheeta said dreamily.
"Sheeta if I can help you find a husband , that is like you, will you help my wife and I escape
from Queen Hepsha and the Gotta Boogy Tribe?"
"You know of a single male like me?" Sheeta asked interested.
"I do know of such a man, I also know that he is single and looking
for a wife, at least he was two years ago when I last seen him." said
Grandpa.
"Where is this man that is like me?" Sheeta said with a small growl in
her voice.
"Do we have a deal Sheeta?" asked Grandpa.
"Mmmm , yes, we have a deal ," agreed Sheeta.
"Fine , fine, very well then, you come up with a plan to get us free from
Queen Hepsha and my wife and I will take you to meet the Leopard man
of Scotland."
Then Herb could hear the other men of the village approaching in his
direction.
"I will try and come back tomorrow to pick more oranges, will you be
here so we can talk?"
"Yes, when you are ready to talk, just whistle like this and she demonstrated
the unique tune. Grandpa quickly memorized the tune.
"Crack! Crunch..!" he heard footsteps approaching and grandpa stood up.
Grandpa started to pick oranges again and casually told Sheeta that
she had better go.
"Don't worry about me Herb, you watch out for snakes."
Herb intended to smile at Sheeta for her comment.
But when he looked for her she was gone. He smiled in her direction
anyway. For the first time in months Herb had some hope.
The men from the Gotta Boogy Tribe came to collect Herb and
return to the village.
"COOOL Grandpa!!!!!!! You got all the HOT babes on that Jungle
Adventure! busted out Dustin with out really thinking about what
he was saying, until it was to late.
Coral looked like she was about to cry and Dustin suddenly felt rotten
for what he had just blurted out.
" Sorry Grandma," Dustin tried to apologize.
Just then one of the twins woke up crying. Brandy used that as a reason
to halt the story for now.
"Lets come back to this later, I need to take care of the babies and I think
I need a nap to." said Brandy.
"That sounds good to me ," said Dustin quickly leaving the table.
And Brandy went to go and change a dirty diaper.
