In her fear she forgot all about Ellasbeth, all that mattered was that she escape, leave the room, the twisting passages of the cellar, Calstone House itself. She needed fresh air and to try and leave the nightmares she had seen tonight far behind her.

Gas light cast flickering brightness on the dark walls as she ran through the passages she had already traced, her breath coming from her lips in harsh ragged sounds, her feet slipping on the soiled ground.

All she had to do was find the door that led back into the main house, from there she would be safe...
