The hotel opened with a great press review, Calstone Guesthouse was the place to be seen if you didn't want a big flashy and expensive hotel. It catered to people from all walks of life but was known especially amongst those with wealth and power as a place of charm and above all discretion.

Of course there were single guests there on business, and couples there on holiday or just for privacy.

All in all for the first year the Guesthouse was tranquility, nothing untoward happened that doesn't happen in hundreds of other hotels throughout the World.

However as the 1st anniversary of the Guesthouse opening approached Elinor had a new couple of guests. A tall blonde haired man accompanied by a petite woman of Asian origins. Just standing at the reception desk the woman seemed nervous, almost afraid of her own shadow, she was clearly unneasy with her male companion. He signed the register as Mr and Mrs Hastings.

Mr Hastings turned out to have a thing for beating women for no reason - especially his wife, and as Halloween approached the spirits of the House became restless and hungy....
