When she went to the reception area the next morning however she discovered she had nothing to worry about. As always the spirits had cleaned up after themselves, somehow there was the official signature of Mr Hastings as having checked out, his check had even been left in the till, there would be no questions that she could not answer now. Officially Mr and Mrs Hastings had booked out, even paid for their nights lodgings.
With a weary soul Elinor mounted the stairs to their room and quickly gathered together everything that had belonged to the couple. Nothing was left. She checked behind furniture, under the bed, everywhere. no trace of them could be left.
Using a small catering trolley she wheeled everything to the stairs, bumped the trolley down to the ground floor then again down the stairs into the cellar. One of the old tiled rooms in the cellar would be perfect for storage.
She left their belongings there in the musty room and after a last look around mounted the stairs back in the Hotel. Nothing had happened here that hadn't happened before.
All would be ok...
