In all, the refits and modernisation of Calstone House took just over two months. Just in time for Halloween, just the way Elinor had planned it.

The work had taken a chunk out of her fortune but the results were worth it. Everything was a perfect blend of the original Victorian detail with modern touches, it looked a long way from its previous battered and decaying state.

Outside the grounds had been perfectly landscaped, the roses brought back to life, the outer clapboard walls cleaned and repainted a fresh cool colour. There were even seating areas for future guests.
