Dusk was beginning to fall and the atmosphere in the car was light and excited. Amy and Sarah whispering together on the back seat whilst Elinor spent her time looking out of the window.

Slowly the streets of the suburbs disappeared and she realised they were coming towards the edges of the city, trees began to fill the edges of the route and she felt the knot of nervousness in her stomach grow stronger.

When the car stopped she was surprised, there seemed to be nothing here. Drew got out of the car first then held the door open for Amy and Sarah. Finally Elinor got out. As her eyes accustomed to the fading light she realised that they were outside a large old mansion. Not one of the modern and bright mansions like the one Sarah lived in, this one was old and seemed to be in an advanced state of decay and disrepair.

Drew pushed past the rusting garden railings, just behind him were Amy and Sarah. Elinor had no choice but to follow, but it seemed a strange place to hold a party.

The four of them pushed through tal weeds and dead plants, moving past abandoned rubbish as they moved round the side of the old house to what had once been the conservatory.
